Did you know that square dance is alive and well in Bucks County? For over 50 years, the Buckaroos Square and Round Dance Club of Warrington has been sharing the fun of modern western square dance with new students, members, and dancers from all over the country. Currently, the club hosts skills workshops on Thursday nights and regular dances on the second and fourth Fridays of each month.
Square dance is easy to learn, fun to do, and is all about bringing people together. The easy part is learning to execute the basic cooperative dance moves, or calls. The fun is in seeing if you and the other dancers can keep up with the caller as he or she directs you to the beat of the music. It's a challenge that exercises both mind and body, relieves stress, and can turn strangers into lifelong friends.
Are you up to the challenge? The Buckaroos are about to kick-off their next beginner level class, and invite you to give square dancing a try. Smiles are guaranteed, and once you've learned the basics, you'll be able to dance with the several clubs local to Bucks County and many more across the country. The class will start February 6 and will meet on Thursdays from 7-8:30PM at Titus Elementary School in Warrington. It's appropriate for all ages, and you don't need to have a partner. Since it's always the more the merrier, consider inviting your friends, your spouse, or your tweens and teens to share the fun.
