Family Service Association of Bucks County has been serving the community since the doors opened in 1953. Approximately 350 people are homeless in Bucks County and more than a third of those are children. The programs at Family Service of Bucks County help the homeless, increase opportunities for adults, reduce substance use, improve the lives of those with HIV/AIDS and much more.
They also operate the Bucks County Emergency Homeless Shelter, a temporary shelter for families and individuals who have lost safe housing. The local non-profit, Bucks County Emergency Homeless Shelter, provides a lifeline to individuals and families facing homelessness, offering more than just shelter. They offer a path to self-sufficiency and provide guidance every step of the way.

MORE THAN A SHELTER – CREATING A SAFE AND SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT
The shelter prioritizes a safe and supportive environment. Residents are frequently surprised by the quiet, friendly atmosphere. Therapists are on staff to address the trauma many residents have faced, ensuring a client-centered approach that fosters a sense of dignity and respect.
What truly sets this shelter apart is its dedication to empowering residents to rebuild their lives. The shelter offers a unique case management program that includes daycare for children, a renter's program to help secure permanent housing, assistance with obtaining IDs, financial literacy training, and even mindset coaching to foster positive change. It is the only low-barrier shelter in Bucks County, serving anyone in need 24/7, 365 days a year.
SERVING EVERYONE
“We recognize that when people walk through our doors, we are their last hope, said the Director of Housing Services Murielle Kelly, “We can serve just about anyone, whether they are elderly, dealing with mental health or substance abuse challenges, financial challenges, and the list goes on. We ensure that their basic needs are met and have incredible programming that enables our clients to get back on their feet.”
