TONIGHT is the big Elephant's Eye Tour Happy Hour at the Freight House in Doylestown from 5pm-7pm. Furia Rubel and BucksHappening.com will co-host a Love of Bucks Arts Happy Hour to raise funds to bring students from under-served school districts out to meet the 2011 artists of Elephant’s Eye Studio Tour. Tickets are $25.00 per person including one drink and appetizers. $15 per ticket is tax deductible. Please join us and help us meet the organization’s $2,500 goal. On Saturday, participate in the arts for a great cause at the open mic call for poets at Hope for the Future of Haiti Children from 3-6pm at the New Hope Arts Center. Poems with Haiti themes will be considered for a chapbook of poems published by Lilly Press. All Proceeds go to Haiti through “Doctors Without Borders” and snacks & beverages will be included with admission (charged at door).
A couple of weeks ago, we told you about our new fun find– Bob Egan's in New Hope. This Saturday, Bob Egan's will feature musicians The Hot Club, a potent gypsy jazz patented by Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli in the 1930s. Local guitarist, Barry Warhoftif has been quoted saying, “This music is jazz for people that don’t necessarily like jazz. It’s fast and unpretentious and swings like mad with a touch of Gypsy fire.” Tickets are $15 with a food and drink minimum of $25.
