Gobble Gobble!  Thanksgiving officially marks the start of the holiday season. And since things are always hectic we figured we could make it easy by giving you the inside scoop. It’s most important to focus on all that you are thankful for, but of course that comes with a great meal and some fun activities. Check out what's happening for Thanksgiving around Bucks County in 2011:

THANKSGIVING EVE:

First, reunite with old friends by making your Thanksgiving Eve plans with the help of Single in the Suburbs.

GIVE BACK:

22nd Annual Bucks County Roadrunners Thanksgiving Day 5 Miler and 1 mile fun run/walk: at 9 am in Langhorne, PA 

Fundraiser for Food Pantry – Annual Thanksgiving Day Yoga Class and Food Bank Fundraiser at Yoga Loka in Frenchtown, NJ on Thursday, November 24th from 10:00 am-12:00 noon. This 2-hour Thanksgiving Day class will guide us towards an authentic experience of gratitude. Bonnie Pariser will lead the asana accompanied by Dan Johnson on tabla. Some asana experience is good, but not necessary to attend. Register early because the class fills quickly! Suggested donation is $20, and the proceeds will go to the Frenchtown Food Bank. Suggested donatation $25; proceeds will go to the Frenchtown Food Bank Register on-line at www.yoga-loka.com or send a check to the yoga studio made out to Yoga Loka.

5K to Benefit Habitat for Humanity – The Quakertown Rotary Club and Quakertown United Methodist Church are hosting the 10th Annual Habitat 5K Race at the Quakertown United Methodist Church, 1875 Frier Road, on Saturday, Novmeber 26th. Registration opens at 8:00am, with the ¾-mile Kid’s Race at 9:30am and the 5K starting at 10am. Awards for the top male and female will be presented along some ‘special’ awards.  All proceeds of the race benefit Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County.

EVENTS:

Gingerbread Competition & Display – From now through January 1st check out the Gingerbread House display in Peddler’s Village. Gingerbread house competition for over $3,400 in cash prizes in such categories as : Traditional, Authentic Reproduction of a Significant Building, Amateur, Unusual 3-Dimensional Creation Student (ages 13 to 18) and KidsOnly! (ages 12 and under). A visual delight, the entries are displayed throughout the holiday season in the Village Gazebo.

Thanksgiving morning run & walk: Before the feast, join the gruop at Peace Valley Nature Center to run or to walk. Bring family and friends and join us for a 6 mile run/walk around beautiful Lake Galena. Coach Kevin Crail will lead the run and Amy McGahran will lead the walk. Sand Castle Winery's Bonfire Celebration: On Saturday, 11/19 from noon to 5 pm, head to Erwinna for a bonfire feast include a Thanksgiving theme buffet, glass of your favorite local wine, and a complete wine tasting of all 11 of our wines Price for Bonfire Feast: $20.00 in advance, $25.00 at the door.

Nativity Weekend – Byers’ Choice in Chalfont will be hosting an event where you can visit the creche room and see over 250 nativities from around the world. Children can make their own nativity to take home with them. This is a free event but registration is required. Please call the Gift Emporium to sign up at 215-822-6700.

DINNER OPTIONS:

Lower Bucks

The Brick Hotel & Restaurant – Newtown – Price fixe for adults is $34.99 and for children, $19.99. 12:30 am to 8:o0 pm.

Buck Hotel – Feasterville – From noon to 6pm, serving a “Family Style” Thanksgiving dinner. Price for adults is $35.95 (plus tax and gratuity) and $15.95 for children.

The Logan Inn – New Hope –  Thanksgiving Day Dinner from noon to 8 pm, serving their regular dinner menu as well as traditional Thanksgiving specials.

Marsha Brown – New Hope-  Serving dinner from 1pm to 7:30 pm with a Creole-inspired Thanksgiving menu. They also have some amazing Creole-inspired side dishes available to-go!

Martine’s- New Hope – A traditional Thanksgiving turkey dinner special, along with other specials and their regular menu from 2 pm – 8 pm.

Temperance House – Newtown –  is presenting a gourmet Thanksgiving Grand Feast from 12 – 6 pm, featuring a hand-carved turkey station and steamship of beef with all the fixings for $26.95 per person (adult) and $13.95 (child). The Temp is at 5 N. State St in Newtown. Call 215.860.9975 for reservations.

Texas Roadhouse – Bensalem – Dine at the Texas Roadhouse on November 21, 22 or 23 and 10% of your order (including alcoholic beverages) will be donated back to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Greater Delaware Valley Chapter. You must print this voucher and turn it in with your order for the MS Society to receive credit. Plus you can win free steak for a year!

The Yardley Inn – Yardley- Serving dinner 1 – 7 pm on Thanksgiving Day.

Central Bucks

Centre Bridge Inn – Centre Bridge – Thanksgiving dinner overlooking the Delaware from noon to 6:00pm. $39.95 for adults; $19.95 for children 12 and under.

Earl’s Bucks County – Lahaska -Serving a 3 course prix fixe option for $29.95. A la carte from the same menu choices will also be available.

Freight House – Doylestown – Special Thanksgiving menu items from noon to 8 pm on Thanksgiving Day in addition to regular menu.

Sweet Lorraine’s – Lahaska -Thanksgiving Dinner Buffet from noon to 7 pm: $27.95 (adults), $22.95 (seniors) and $11.95 (children).

Waterwheel Restaurant – Doylestown – A Thanksgiving Day Buffet from 1pm to 6 pm for $40.00 per person, kids under 10 y.o. half-price.

Upper Bucks

Black Bass Hotel – Lumberville – Serving a five-course dinner and a Thanksgiving buffet, served from noon to 8:30 pm, at a prix fixe of $59.50 per person.

Indian Rock Inn – Upper Black Eddy – Serving a Thanksgiving three-course dinner from noon to 8 pm, for $39.00 per person (children under 12 years: $15.00).

Maize Restaurant – Perkasie – A real five course meal with some flare. Vegetarian option also available. $65 per person.

Washington House – Sellersville -Serving  a 3course Thanksgiving dinner including choice of soup or salad, entree, dessert and coffee for $29.95 – 34.95 (adult).
