Fall is a great time to get together with family, friends, or for a date night out to the theatre. Most theatre houses start their seasons in the fall and they opening show as well as the holiday show are certainly two of the must-see for the season. Movies and TV are great and serve the purpose of everyday entertainment, but nothing beats the thrill of a live performance. So why not treat yourself to a night at the theater! Here are 4 great theatres in Bucks County and what they are offering to kick of the fall and holiday season.
Bristol Riverside Theatre
120 Radcliff Street, Bristol
BRT is starting off the season with the hilarious play, The 39 Steps, based on the film by Alfred Hitchcock. This show only has four actors three of whom play multiple parts, an absolute must see! That will be followed in November by the heart warming play Lost in Yonkers.
Bucks County Playhouse
70 S. Main Street, New Hope
The Bucks County Playhouse is opening the fall season with lots of great concerts and events. If you are a Halloween junkie then you will not want to miss the Rocky Horror Show, a super fun night of live theatre with this cult classic! The theater is also honoring it's deep connection with Oscar Hammerstein with the September 26-28 premier of the Oscar Hammerstein festival. This is a not-to-miss new musical development program culminating with a concert called Getting to Know You: An Enchanted Evening of Oscar Hammerstein II, featuring some incredibly Tony-Award-Winning talent! Grab a bite on Main street, do some window shopping, and enjoy a show. A perfect Bucks County fall evening.
ActorsNET
The Heritage Center Theatre 635 North Delmorr Avenue, Morrisville
It's still not too late to catch a performance of the September show The Charitable Sisterhood of the Second Trinity Victory Church at the ActorsNET. In this heart-warming new comedy, as a flood rages outside the church, the ladies of the Charitable Sisterhood discover the deeper meaning of charity when they encounter a fugitive from justice. That will be followed in October and November with a Shakespeare show, Eqivocation.
Town and Country Players
4158 York Rd, Buckingham
Located right down the street from Peddlers Village this is a great place to enjoy a show after a day of shopping. If you are looking to get spooked for the October holiday then this is the place as they will be performing The Haunting of Hill House, a chilling and mystifying study in mounting terror that may not be appropriate for young children. Not to worry about the kiddies though since the holiday production is a classic, the Nutcracker and following that the playhouses holiday show both great for families!
