Stargazing Series

River House at Odette's is hosting a series of Stargazing events fireside at Odette's Overlook with expert Allen Liu to moderate details of that evening's Orionids Meteor Shower — the most prolific meteor shower associated with Halley's Comet. Allen will be bringing his travel telescope for participants to view the event in real-time while enjoying items from their specialty F+B menu available exclusively during these evenings only.

Howl-O-Ween Pet Promenade

When: Saturday, October 22 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Where: 9 Wesley Avenue, Glenside 19038

The Downtown Glenside Foundation is calling all dogs to strut down Wesley Avenue in Halloween costumes to raise money for Home at Last Dog Rescue this weekend! Prizes will be awarded for best costume, best strut, best trick, and waggiest tail. No dog? Fun can still be had! There will be live music, pet vendors, the shops of Glenside, tasty food, and family activities! Registration costs $10 per dog and the dog parade begins at 12 p.m.

PGS Fall Festival

Join the PGS this Saturday for a fun Fall Festival filled with local vendors, live music, pumpkin decorating, and other favorite fall activities! Classic fall treats will be available from gourmet autumn delicacies such as pumpkin pie to Halloween treats. Additionally, an outdoor screening of Hocus Pocus will follow the festival at 6:30 p.m. Bring your chairs, blankets, and furry friends with you!

Join America's First Animal Shelter for their Fall Fundraiser this weekend! The Roxey Ballet Company

Kicking off the fall season, Roxy Ballet stages its dance adaptation of Bram Stoker's “Dracula” — a performance you can really sink your teeth into! The performance interprets Stoker's famed horror story through a complete sensory experience of movement, music, and spoken word with pyrotechnic sound and lighting effects. General admission seating or virtual tickets for the live stream may be purchased here. The show can be seen this weekend and the last weekend of October. The audience is encouraged to come dressed in Halloween costumes!

Haunted Civil War Tour & Victorian Wake

The Bucks County Civil Mar Museum and the James Lorah Memorial Home welcome you to a spooky evening tour of the Civil War Era! The tour includes the two historic locations for guests to hear the stories of Doylestown's war heroes. The tour offers frights for all ages and tickets should be booked in advance here. Cold Spring Bleachery Walking Tour

The small borough of Yardley was once where an expansive industry that employed 150 people – the Cold Spring Bleachery – inhabited. Cloth was brought to the business for cleaning and finishing to be shipped to manufacturers. In turn, the material was made into consumer goods. Join Susan Taylor for a two-mile walking tour to see the remaining vestiges of the Bleachery and hear stories of the past. The tour will also include a visit to Whiskey Hill, the adjoining residential neighborhood. Registration is required by making a call or emailing info@yardleyhistory.org.

Warminster Heights Halloween Stroll

Wooden Treasures: The Story of Bucks County's Covered Bridges

R. Scott Bomboy, author of “Wooden Treasures: The Story of Bucks County's Covered Bridges,” will speak this week at the historic Newtown Theatre. Bomboy spent five years developing his book, which accounts for the 51 covered bridges once located in the county. Today, only 12 remain. He is a Bucks County resident and has frequently written about the county's past. The event is $15 for the public and $10 for members of the theatre and historic association.

Susan Taylor: Worth a Thousand Words — The Delaware Canal in Photos, Old and New

When: Tuesday, October 25

Where: Virtual

The Delaware Canal has lured photographers from the time that the camera came into use. Using an assemblage of photos ranging from the era when mules pulled cargo-laden boats to today, Susan Taylor will share stories of the canal's past and hopes for its future. She was the executive director of the non-profit Friends of the Delaware Canal for over 30 years, leading guided tours and more!

Fall Craft Fair
