Wednesday, September 22nd marked the first official day of fall. Days will slowly become shorter, but the fun in Bucks County is more abundant than ever. This Sunday, the Bucks County SPCA is hosting a Barn Bash at The Inn at Barley Sheaf to raise money for rescue animals. The Quakertown Farmers Market is hosting a Children's Scarecrow Costume Contest and Langhorne is having it's first ever Porch Fest. There's lots of fun to be had. Fall for the Arts Festival

When: Sunday, September 26th, 11 am – 5 pm
Where: 8000 to 8600 Germantown Avenue, Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia, PA

Each year, Chestnut Hill welcomes Autumn with the Fall for the Arts Festival. Visitors can enjoy a day of art, music, culinary delights and boutique shopping as Germantown Avenue, between Willow Grove and Rex Avenue is transformed into an outdoor arts and crafts marketplace with over 100 vendors. A fabulous array of artistic choices will be on display, including oils, watercolors, photography, sculpture, pottery, wood crafts, jewelry and accessories.

Germantown Avenue is closed to all vehicular traffic as fine arts, live entertainment, exhibits and children’s rides and activities take place up and down the street. Admission to the festival is free.

Barn Bash for the Animals

When: Sunday, September 26th, 12:00 pm 4:00 pm
Where: The Inn at Barley Sheaf, 5281 York Road, Holicong, PA

Enjoy an afternoon of mingling with the animals and fellow animal lovers, a lively auction, entertainment, games, cocktails and gourmet food stations at the historic, Barley Sheaf Farm. The event supports the Bucks County SPCA's mission to rescue and re-home animals in need. The event sells out quickly. Get your tickets here.

Naturalist Foray: Creepy Crawly Herps

When: Sunday, September 26th, 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Where: Peace Valley Nature Center, 170 N Chapman Road, Doylestown, PA

Woods, stream, lake and ponds – come explore what reptiles and amphibians are to be found. During this adventure you will be on the look-out for salamanders, snakes, frogs, toads and turtles. All ages are welcome with an adult. Admission is free.

Wordsmiths – Zamora & Jerome

When: Friday, September 24th, 7:30 pm
Where: Tyler 142, 275 Swamp Road, Newtown, PA

Wordsmiths presents a poetry and prose reading by Felicia Zamora and Mary Jo LoBello. This event is free and open to the public.

Center City District Restaurant Week

When: Saturday, September 18th – September 30th
Where: Center City District

Center City District Restaurant Week is back, starting this Saturday and running until September 30. Enjoy multi-course prix fixe lunches for $25 and dinners for $40 from more than 60 participating restaurants to dine outdoors, indoors or take home. However you feel comfortable, support your favorite Center City businesses and help restore jobs. Parking discounts have gone digital. While enjoying CCD Restaurant Week, park for $9 or less at participating facilities from 4:45 pm – 1:00 am.

New Hope Arts & Crafts Festival

When: September 25-26, 10 – 6 pm on Saturday, 10 – 4 pm on Sunday
Where: New Hope – Solebury High School, 180 W Bridge Street, New Hope, PA

The 27th Annual New Hope Outdoor Juried Arts and Crafts Festival will take place this weekend at the New Hope – Solebury High School. Located in the historic river town of New Hope PA, known for its arts community, this event should attract 10,000 visitors. This is an outdoor, rain or shine, event, ample parking, festival food, a complimentary shuttle, and music. New Hope’s business district is just a few minutes walk or shuttle ride away. This is a quality, juried event and our artists will be recognized with ribbons and cash prizes.

Kids Scarecrow Costume Contest

When: Saturday, September 25th, 2:00 pm
Where: Quakertown Farmers Market, 201 Station Road, Quakertown, PA

Children ages 0-12 are invited to enter the first ever Scarecrow Costume Contest. All participants must be in front of the outdoor stage at 2:00 pm sharp for judging. Costumes must be homemade. Store bought costumes will not be accepted. Age groups are as follows: 0-3, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12. Prizes for each group include: 1st $50 Market Bucks & 1st Runner Up $10 Market Bucks.

Bucks Book Fest on the Green

When: Saturday, September 26th, 12 – 4 pm
Where: Mercer Museum & Fonthill Castle, 84 South Pine Street, Doylestown, PA

Bucks Book Fest on the Green is an opportunity to meet 18 authors, mingle with fellow book lovers and shop the book tent, all on the beautiful grounds of the historic Mercer Museum. Gates open at 11:30 am with the book tent open to shop. Author appearances and interviews begin at noon and will continue until 4:00 pm. Get your tickets here.

Langhorne Celebration of the Arts

When: Saturday, September 25th
Where: Langhorne Borough

This weekend, join in on a celebration of the arts in Langhorne. All Langhorne area residents are encouraged to decorate their sidewalk or driveway in the morning and then everyone is encouraged to walk around town to see the artwork in the afternoon. Chalk can be picked up at the Borough Hall from Monday – Thursday the week prior from 9-1 pm while supplies last.

In the afternoon, the First Annual Porch Fest will begin. ring a lawn chair if you want to sit or walk around the borough to enjoy a wide variety of talented musicians. There will be jazz, blue grass, classical, show tunes, R & B and more. A schedule of the performances and a map will be published here.

Main Line Wine Gala

When: Thursday, September 30th, 6:00 – 9:00 pm
Where: Appleford Estate, 770 Mt. Moro Road, Villanova, PA

Resources for Human Development (RHD) will host the highly anticipated Main Line Wine Gala at the beautiful Appleford Estate. The annual event is going al fresco this year to showcase the world's most exclusive winemakers, while benefiting RHD's innovations in human services.

Groth Vineyards & Winery is the featured winery for the evening. Rooted in Oakville in the Napa Valley, the winery produces acclaimed Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, along with an estate-grown white blend and a proprietary red. RHD is also pleased to welcome Mark Nelson as Honorary Chair of the event. After joining Groth Vineyards & Winery in 2015 as the winery's Eastern Regional Sales Manager, Nelson was promoted to his current role as National Sales Manager in 2020.

The money raised from Maine Line Wine Gala will benefit several RHD programs including:

  • La Casa – Philadelphia's only youth safe haven that provides secure, transitional housing for emerging young adults who are experiencing homelessness and mental health challenges.
  • Center for Creative Works – A unique, creative arts studio for people with intellectual disabilities, with a focus on arts and arts-based skill-building, education, in-house generated vocational opportunities, and community involvement.

Donations received will also allow RHD to continue developing caring, effective and innovative programs that help people in need build better lives for themselves, their families and their communities. Get tickets here.

Newtown Business Association Business Expo

When: Monday, September 27th – Sunday, October 3rd
Where: Virtual + Live: The Orangery at Bucks County Community College, 275 Swamp Road, Newtown, PA

The NBA is excited to present the 2nd Virtual + Live Expo from 9/27 – 10-3, where visitors can engage with the NBA businesses in one location. There will be virtual “booths” with videos, photos, brochures and more. Businesses will be offering ‘The Best Deal of the Year.' Enter giveaways, earn prices and get the chance to interact with local businesses. There will be a lunch and learn on September 27, 29 and Oct. 1 from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm. Cost is $10 each event for NBA members and $20 for non-members. Masks are required on BCCC campus.
