The Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics are taking place next month, and an outstanding athlete with local ties is preparing to represent his nation on the world’s biggest winter sports stage. His journey from hometown rinks and ice tracks to Olympic arenas are inspiring fans across the region. At only 24 years old, Bucks County native Andrew Heo is preparing for his second Olympic Games, after making his Olympic debut with Team USA in Bejing 2022.

From Local Rinks to Olympic Ice

Born and raised in Warrington Township, Heo began skating, inspired to follow family members who introduced him to the sport. Heo made his first U.S. national team at the age of 17, and three years later, he made his Olympic debut at the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, finishing 7th in the 1,000-meter and was the highest-ranking U.S. man in the 1000m event at the 2022 Games.

Momentum Heading Into 2026

Andrew is bringing the heat to the 2026 Olympics. In December 2025, he won his first ISU Short Track World Tour gold medal in the 500-meter race, becoming the first U.S. man in over a decade to win a top-level individual World Tour race.

Andrew Heo has been documenting his journey with his Road to Milan series on Instagram. From his early days on local ice to representing Team USA on the Olympic stage, Heo’s dedication and perseverance have inspired pride throughout the community. When he takes to the ice in Italy, he’ll be carrying the support of his hometown with him every step of the way.
