My Favorite Year (The Musical)
The Heritage Center, 635 North Delmorr Ave, Morrisville

A musical comedy with a heart of gold! It’s 1954, and young Benjy Stone is realizing his life-long dream of writing for television, working as a freshman writer on TV’s most popular comedy show: King Kaiser’s Comedy Cavalcade. Life is crazy but exhilarating, and just when he thought it couldn’t get any more interesting, Benjy is assigned as chaperone (read: babysitter) to swashbuckling veteran Hollywood star, Alan Swann. Swann has been Benjy’s movie idol and inspiration since he was a child. Benjy was raised by a single mother, and used to fantasize about Swann being his real father. It’s a dream come true, until he meets the real Swann and realizes that life is much more complicated than it ever looks in the movies.
Red
Spring Garden Mill, Tyler State Park, 1440 Newtown-Richboro Rd, Newtown
8:00pm
An intense study of a brilliant mind that immerses viewers in the “texture of thoughts”. Red follows renowned expressionist Mark Rothko as he executes a series of murals that in 1958 represent the biggest modern art commission in history. The play follows the evolving tension between Rothko and his young assistant that culminates in what Dramatists describes as ” the agonizing possibility that his crowning achievement could also become his undoing”. A portrait of intense retrospection, ambition, and vulnerability, and an exhilarating explosion of activity and paint that you won’t soon forget. “John Logan sends the American abstract painter Mark Rothko into battle with his demons… and the artist’s howls are pure music.”
