Charcoal, Steak, & Things
I love love love going out for breakfast. Growing up, my family spent Sunday mornings frequenting the many diners and breakfast spots around lower Bucks County. Even though it was a very different looking restaurant back then, Charcoal, Steak, & Things in Yardley was always a favorite breakfast destination.
Coming back to Bucks County, I was thrilled to discover the completely renovated Charcoal, Steak, & Things (now called simply Charcoal) along the Delaware in Yardley. The building was raised, offering stunning panoramic views of the Delaware River. The sleek and simple decor of the restaurant perfectly balances the rich beauty outside.
Delicious pumpkin pancakes
Of course the views are amazing, but the real reason I go to Charcoal is for the exceptional breakfast. I was thrilled to find that the food quality and service was just as wonderful as I remembered. I've sampled a variety of their breakfast options since moving back to Bucks County and have never been disappointed. For a special fall treat, this time out I ordered a short stack of the pumpkin pancakes.
While I always think of Charcoal as a breakfast restaurant, they also offer an extensive lunch and dinner menu. Charcoal is a BYOB restaurant serving Progressive American/French Fare by chef brothers Mark and Eric Plescha. Through modern techniques and sourcing local food, the brothers aim to provide modern comfort food in a restaurant that supports the community. I can't wait to discover Charcoal's other specialities, but in the meantime, you'll find me gazing out at their gorgeous views with a cup of coffee, stack of pancakes, & a big smile on my face.
