To me, the holiday season hasn't officially started until someone breaks out the cookies.  These sweet treats have long played a part in holiday traditions- whether filling your home with the smell of fresh baked cookies, decorating them in holiday colors, or eventually sharing them with friends; family; & the big guy in red.

That's why earlier this week we took a trip to our friends, Kerry & Roseann, at Town Crier Bakery in Peddler's Village.  Kerry shared his expert tips for baking the perfect holiday butter cookies such as: 1) Don't use the whole egg- just the whites for a light, fluffy cookie. 2) All flours are not created equal! Use a baking flour (with less gluten) to get the right texture. 3) Lightly spray your cookies with water before sprinkling jimmies (aka “sprinkles”) to get them to stick.

Watch the video below to get more fantastic tips from Kerry, and prepare to make this year's holiday cookie batch the best ever. After tasting several varieties of their cookies this week, I can assure you that these simple adjustments makes a big difference!

Not baking this year? No worries. Stop in at Town Crier Bakery for one of their cookie gift trays and share the sweets!
