No holiday season in Bucks County is complete without Christmas in Doylestown, a scenic tour of some of the most beautiful homes in Doylestown.

Tour four beautifully decorated holiday homes, enjoy tea in the Parish Hall, and shop at the Christmas boutique. A tremendous selection of handmade wreaths & door swag in addition to over 7,000 delicious cookies will be prepared by St. Paul volunteers and be available for purchase at the Holiday Boutique. Both cash & credit cards will be accepted on site.

This staple of the season not only offers a festive Christmas celebration for locals to enjoy but most importantly, raises much-needed funds for the Bucks County Housing Group. It’s no surprise that locals voted the annual Christmas in Doylestown event the “Most Happening” fundraiser of 2013, having successfully raised over $100,000 for the Bucks County Housing Group over the past twenty years!

This year's tour includes:

  1. 130 Shewell Avenue: A spa-like ambience embraces you as your enter the 1928 converted bungalow. Little remains of the original structure, but for a few windows and part of the home office, as the house was gutted three years ago. The owners opted to open it up and make the home more functional for modern day family living.  A call to a local builder began the chain of renovation projects. Now, an open concept floor plan allows guests to ebb and flow between living, dining, and family rooms, with a chef's dream kitchen as the first floor anchor. Neutral tones and minimalist decor make you want to slip on a bathrobe and relax awhile.
  2. 153 Shewell Avenue: Art and architecture meld seamleassly in this 1902 brick, Oscar Martin Arts & Crafts home. Craftsman furnishings are at home amongst beautiful original woodwork and structural details that set a dramatic backdrop for the family's extensive art collection. Add to this a new color palette and it all comes together in a very unique, historical home that is as attractive as it is functional. Be certain to step down into what is affectionately called “The Pub Room.” While you might not be able to order a “pint”, you will find a warm and cozy multi-purpose space that has all the charm that you might encounter across the pond.
  3. 250px-James_Lorah_Doylestown132 N. Main Street “The James-Lorah Memorial Home”: Welcome to the James-Lorah Memorial Home: a designated National Historical House and one of the most prominent Victorians in town. After several owners and a few renovations since its 1844 birth, much of the home is still original- from the deep moldings, picket doors and long windows to the period furniture, lighting and authentic wall coverings. Floral and lace blends with touches of Sarah James. An eight decade resident, this lady left her mark on both the home and the town by bequething this place of history to the Village Improvement Association. Be sure to catch the music room and the stained glass window dedicated to the lyrical patron saint.
  4. 129 E. Ashland Street: Classic Victorian meets Pottery Barn in this pretty, remodeled, century-old home. Rich toned walls, built-ins and classic trim and moldings are complements by both period furnishings and modern day accessories that bring family life to light. The home strikes a perfect balance of old and new, while a musical heritage and interest in wine are obvious both inside and out back in the renovated barn. Pull up a carafe in this beautiful entertaining loft, stock with tell-tale signs of vintages enjoyed and yet to be. Cheers!

You may tour these houses in any order, and the entire circuit is 1.3 miles if you prefer to park once and walk. In addition to street parking, the Parking Garage at the corner of Broad Street and Union Streets is convenient to Houses 1 through 3. The Library Parking Lot and the lot at Saint Paul's are both convenient to the church and House 4.
