There is great news for Bucks County bourbon lovers! Newtown's Isaac Newton's Restaurant has recently introduced a craft bourbon selection, bringing the budding beverage trend to Bucks County.
The popular Newtown bar took a cue from their devoted patrons, with bourbon orders having steadily increased in recent years, and introduced a variety of brands to round out their already impressive selection.
A Newtown favorite for over twenty years, Isaac Newton's was one of the first bars to introduce craft beer to the community, and continues to offer a constantly rotating selection of craft brews on draft as well as their “Beer Treasury” – an Isaac Newton encyclopedia of bottles. That same enthusiasm is behind their commitment to high quality spirits.
No longer a drink reserved for your the boss's corner office or a nightcap for grandpa, craft bourbon is appealing to much broader audience. Bourbon is barrel aged whiskey that is made with a a minimum of 51% corn, with the remainder being rye, wheat, malted barley, or some combination of these. The higher concentration of corn leads to a slightly sweeter taste than whiskey. The name is ultimately derived from the French Bourbon dynasty, although it is disputed whether Bourbon County in Kentucky or Bourbon Street in New Orleans inspired the whiskey's name.
Craft bourbons are those distilled in smaller batches and in limited qualities, allowing the distiller to craft the perfect sip from grain to glass.

Isaac's informed bartenders are available to help customers develop their palate. But what can a bourbon newbie expect when it comes to tasting craft bourbon?
Isaac Newton's bar manager Maggie Lyons explains, “All bourbons taste different and everyone's palates will pull off different flavors,” she explained. “Bourbon companies long ago introduced flavorings as well. Honey and maple are just small examples. We currently offer a home infused Apple Cinnamon. We barrel age and infuse it in house.”

Combining creativity, the finest quality ingredients, and a flair for flavor, Isaac’s serves up a variety of delicious dishes to accompany their unbeatable bar selection. That tradition continues with bourbon infused dishes and pairing selections.
