National Constitution Center
This past Monday, Bucks Happening took to the historic streets of Philadelphia. With a fabulous lunch at Iron Chef Jose Garces' restaurant Amada and a visit to the interactive National Constitution Center, it was the perfect way to celebrate Memorial Day 2010.
Last winter, we missed our dinner reservations at Amada due to one of the many blizzards that hit (can you believe that was just a few months ago?). I literally got into a car accident trying to reach those tasty tapas. Thus, when we passed by Amada on our day trip to the Constitution Center there was no stopping me from getting lunch. We enjoyed their uniquely smooth green Gazpacho Amarillo soup, topped with scoop of Avocado ice cream & savored our warm, baked sandwiches. As you can see from the video, I also got my sangria fix!

With full bellies, we made our way over to the National Constitution Center, where a special exhibit “Ancient Rome & America” was on display. Admission to the museum was $20 ($12 if you skip the exhibit). I wasn't allowed to take video throughout most of the tour, but I can tell you it certainly was worth the trip. I've always found the comparisons drawn between Ancient Rome & America to be fascinating, and really enjoyed seeing Ancient Roman artifacts.

When a museum employee told me that I had to watch a show prior to entering the museum, I didn't quite know what to expect. What had I gotten myself into? I was pleasantly surprised, though, with the dramatic, high-tech introduction to the museum. The show certainly puts you in the perfect frame of mind to enjoy the rest of the interactive & informative exhibit. There is so much information at your fingertips (literally- there are tons of touch screens!), you could spend hours trying to get through it all. The National Constitution Center was a fantastic edition to Philadelphia and if you haven't gotten a chance to see it, I highly recommend taking a day trip.
