Galentine's ToastGalentine’s Day, the “holiday” before Valentine’s held on February 13, was huge in 2021. Maybe it was a year locked inside, maybe it was growing awareness of the day, or it could have been just because people could eat in a restaurant. Whatever the reason, this was the year women chose to go out with just the gals to celebrate Galentine’s Day.

In case you don’t know the origins this holiday, it all started with an episode of Parks and Rec in 2010, when main character Leslie Knope hosts a breakfast to celebrate the amazing ladies in her life. Parks and Rec viewership grew with streaming and each year more and more people see the episode and decide a day to honor girlfriends is a day worth having.

I only learned about the holiday this year when I saw my FB timeline filled with snaps from the day. One celebrant, Lou Johnson from Bristol, went a few cities over to celebrate at The Capital Grille in King of Prussia. She and her gals had a night filled with drinks and fine dining. Lou said great food and drinks are a must.

They celebrated by grabbing a hotel for the night, donning their best evening wear, Lou in a red leopard print dress, and treated themselves to a multi-course dinner, fine desserts and drinks.

“The best part about the evening was sharing laughs and great open conversations amongst the ladies,” said Lou. “It was definitely the best way to wind down from a long work week and prepare for meeting up with the one you love!”

She added a few other places she would recommend in Bucks County to recapture the magic of Galentine's, “in Bristol for margarita it is LA Cantina on Mill Street. For amazing food that would be King George.”

If you missed the big day, you can try to recreate it in Bucks County at one of the nominees for the Happening List best Martini or best Late Night dining.  Voting is still open through February 26, 2021.
