Mayor Ron Strouse and Sharon Fleck, Strut Your Mutt with Roxy chairperson, make plans for the Mayor to lead the parade on May 3
Doylestown Mayor Ron Strouse will lead the parade for Roxy Reading Therapy Dogs second annual Strut Your Mutt with Roxy, just in front of the Doylestown Fire Company’s antique fire truck, on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at beginning at Fanny Chapman Park, Doylestown, PA.
“We asked Mayor Strouse if he would like to ride in a car at the front of the line, “says Sharon Fleck, Strut Your Mutt chairperson, “But he said he’d prefer to walk and carry a small dog with him.” Roxy President Diane Smith is “expanding” the offer by having a Roxy therapy dog, Hallie, accompany the Mayor. Hallie is a 4-year-old, 140 pound Leonberger dog owned by Roxy Board Member Donna Madigan Law.
All dogs are invited to strut, not just therapy dogs. The event runs from 9 AM- 1PM.
Lead sponsors for this event are “Louie” and the Fred Beans auto dealerships.
Proceeds from this event benefit Roxy Reading Therapy dogs, a non-profit, 501 c 3 organization dedicated to children. Roxy Reading’s highly trained and certified emotional therapy dogs teams promote literacy and provide comfort to elementary school children, bring comfort and calm to young victims of crime, and deliver canine companionship to medically fragile patients at Pedia Manor. The all-volunteer organization relies solely on donations. All visits are free of charge to families, schools, and taxpayers.
