Zlock Performing Arts Center – Bucks Live Performance Schedule

A myriad of cultural events rolls out from September to December in the Zlock Performing Arts Center on the Newtown Campus of Bucks County Community College.

  • Friday, September 14: Hot Latin jazz takes over the Zlock Performing Arts Center with Pedtrito Martinez on Martinez is one of the most talented young musicians in Latin music today.
  • Friday, September 28: The Creative Inspiration Concert, to benefit the Danny DeGenarro Memorial Fund, features George Porter Jr. & the Runnin’ Pardners. The Grammy Award winner, bass player, and singer from The Meters headlines this annual scholarship fundraising concert for Music and Arts students.
  • Saturday, October 6: Sharon Katz and the Peace Train roll into the Zlock for the Bucks County Arts and Cultural Council’s Celebration of the Performing Arts.
  • Saturday, October 20: Children will be delighted with a matinee concert featuring Lolly and YoYo!, an interactive show to inspire youngsters to play, exercise and be healthy.
  • October 26, 27 and 28: The heavy-metal musical comedy Frankenstein Rocks! Returns to the Zlock just in time for Halloween.

Doylestown Arts Festival

When: September 8 and 9, 2018 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. rain or shine.
Where: Downtown Doylestown

Don’t miss the largest outdoor, juried arts festival in Bucks County! Celebrating its 27th anniversary, the Doylestown Arts Festival is hosted by Discover Doylestown and presented by The Thompson Organization. The two-day festival draws thousands annually for a weekend of original art, featuring over 160 artists showcasing their creative works. Selections include paintings, photography, jewelry, wood & metalwork, furniture, pottery and more. Five stages of live music and various activities will be featured throughout town. A variety of dining options are available at the festival’s food court and in the many unique restaurants that line the streets.

New Hope Arts & Crafts Festival

When: September 29, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; September 30th, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: New Hope – Solebury High School, New Hope, PA

Over 160 fine Artists and Craftsmen will exhibit using media such as oil paintings, watercolors, pastels, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics, works in wood, wearable art, glass art, photography, and more.

Newtown Market Day

When: Oct. 6, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: 105 Court Street, Newtown

Market Day is a well-attended and wonderful event featuring crafters, artisans, fine arts, entertainment and food. Over 50 crafters will present a wide variety of interesting crafts, and demonstrations will include: chair caning, quilting, and rug hooking. Our latest addition, a Farmer’s Market, will sell fresh-from-the-farm produce. Folk music, children’s activities, games, horse-drawn hayrides and a colonial militia encampment will be held throughout the day. Featured this year is a Puppet Theater in the Boone Garden. Local restaurants are participating in our Festival of Foods and Open Hearth Cooking will also be demonstrated.

Historic Fallsington Day

When: October 13, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Where: 4 Yardley Ave., Fallsington

This time-honored event will feature folksingers, puppets shows, jugglers, Colonial dancing, and Native American dancing; demonstrations of Colonial (open-hearth cooking, spinning, basket making, and blacksmithing), craft tables, and book sales; tours of museum buildings, and local churches. Children’s activities, hayrides, bakes sales, a quilt raffle and a wide array of delicious food for sale will add to the festivities. This event is free and open to the public.

Arts & Antiques Weekend

When: October 13 and 14

Where: Throughout the Delaware River Towns

The “Antiques and Arts Weekend” will promote the Delaware River Town’s antique and art community. See the complete list line-up of participating shops and events here.

Yixuan Pan’s video “How to Clean a Window – at Fishers Island” is featured with the works of five other artists in Solid States/Fluid Language Sept. 17 – Oct. 17 at Bucks County Community College’s Hicks Art Center Gallery in Newtown.

Art Exhibit at Bucks County Community College

When: September 17 to October 17

Six artists test the boundaries of glass to produce sculpture, installation, performance and video works. Featuring Jessica Lane Julius, Amy Lamaire, Yixuan Pan, Nate Riccuito, Esther Ruiz, and Kristen Neville Taylor. Guest curator: Megan Biddle. Six artists testing the boundaries of glass; artists panel and gallery reception to be held September 26 at BCCC Newtown Campus. Free Museum Day Mercer Museum and Fonthill Castle

When: September 22

You can Celebrate Smithsonian Museum Day with FREE admission to the Mercer Museum and Fonthill Castle on September 22, 2018. This annual celebration of museums is celebrated at both the Mercer Museum and Fonthill castles with free museum day tickets good for admission for two people.

Bucks Fever Film Fest

When: Opening Night October 4

The Bucks Fever Independent Film Fest will take place throughout the month of October. There will be a film crawl on October 13, from 1 to 4 p.m. and other events throughout the month, leading up to the screening of the winning films on Sunday, October 14 at 7 p.m. The screenings will take place at the County theater at 20 East State Street in Doylestown.
