Do you know what's in your food?  Do you know where your food has been?

Farm to Table Bucks CountyDocumentaries like “Supersize Me” and “Food, Inc.,” are bringing to light some ugly truths about the food we have come to know and accept as “normal.”  Luckily for us, Bucks County has really embraced the local food movement.  In truth, Bucks County was hip to the local food movement before it was posh to visit your local farmers' market.  Recently, it seems there has been a real influx of farmers' markets, food co-ops and CSAs (check out this great resource).

Are you still confused about local food?  Or perhaps you just really enjoy local food?  Either way, you should mark your calendars for July 31st for Heritage Conservancy's Second Annual Farm to Table celebration. The event aims both to allow people to enjoy the delicious local foods of Bucks County and to educate people on the importance of sustainable agriculture. For more than 50 years, Heritage Conservancy has been preserving the natural and historic heritage of Bucks County. Now, the group hopes to marry the common goals of land preservation and sustainable agriculture.

The event boasts a farm-fresh meal, prepared by two acclaimed Bucks County chefs, David Zuckerman and Jamie Hollander. Jamie Hollander, owner of Jamie Hollander Gourmet Foods and Catering, started his company after successfully opening and selling the Knight House in Doylestown. David Zuckerman, General Manager of Earl’s Bucks County since 2008, has recently re-designed the restaurant’s entire menu to emphasize local foods, even using vegetables from their own garden.

Hors d'oeuvres, followed by a buffet-style meal, will be served in a rustic outdoor setting at the Lindsay Farm. Families are invited; there will be activities for children.  Proceeds benefit the Heritage Conservancy. A special thanks to our sponsor Fulton Bank.
