While summer weather is cooling down, it's the perfect time to heat up your work-out routine! We're referring to Pole Dancing classes, which have quickly become a popular way to keep in shape and increase confidence.
“I have found that many women find it can be very empowering and confidence boosting.” Says Amie Archut, owner of Elite Pole & Fitness in Bensalem.
A native of Bensalem, Amie attended the Philadelphia Creative and Performing Arts High School (CAPA) as a dance major before going on to Florida International University and graduating with a degree in Sports and Fitness Studies. It was in Miami that she fell in love with pole fitness, “I had heard about several Pole studios in Miami and was bored of the same fitness/dance routine. I was drawn to the combination of strength, flexibility and sensuality involved with Pole Fitness. I was instantly hooked.”
Bucks County has seen several Pole Dancing studios pop up but Amie spotted a need in Lower Bucks, “We noticed that the Bensalem area was lacking in any Pole Studios so we thought it would be the perfect location to introduce this beautiful new art form and fitness craze.”
“Some of the most obvious benefits of Pole Dancing are the increase in strength, especially upper body and core. It is great for increasing flexibility and losing weight. It is also A LOT of fun!!” Says Amie.
Pole Fitness has developed into a flourishing community, offering fitness solutions for all levels and an opportunity to do something unique for special occasions and girls nights out.
“We offer Bachelorette/Birthday and Girls Night Out parties at really affordable rates. It is a super fun way to celebrate any occasion and includes a Pole Lesson (or Chair or Burlesque), food, and pictures.” Amie shares.
Even if you're new to fitness or the old gym routine just isn't your speed, Pole Fitness is a great way for you to enjoy getting in shape. A common misconception is that the workout is intimidating; Amie explains why women shouldn't let that stop them, “I tell all beginner students to come in with an open mind, and try not to get discouraged if they do not have the strength immediately. Anybody with a lower physical ability level can start pole, we practice strength conditioning skills at the beginning of every class to help students gain the strength they need. We also offer a ‘Pole Flexibility and Conditioning' class as well as Yoga, as other methods to advance quicker.”
