Zoe Talbot

At just 10 years old, Newtown's Zoe Talbot is about to achieve a major accomplishment, earning a black belt from Action Karate in Newtown.  When she's not karate chopping her way to the top, Zoe attends St. Andrew’s School in Newtown, where she was just elected student council representative for her 5th grade class and is also a member of the school choir.

You can check out Zoe and the rest of the Action Karate senior demo team at various festivals, fairs and parades around Bucks County. Don't miss their performance this weekend in Yardley at Harvest Day.

BH: How long have you practiced Karate?

ZT: A little over three 3 years. Action Karate Newtown was at the Grange fair and I won a free month of lessons. My brother and I have been studying there ever since.

BH: What has been the biggest challenge in achieving a black belt?

ZT: Making goals for myself and having the discipline to practice when I'm not there in the studio. I'm also a member of the Senior Demo Team, so I'm always learning new routines in addition to my normal karate katas and defense moves. You have to be very dedicated.

BH: How is one lesson you’ve learned while practicing Karate?

ZT: Never give up! It was one of my teacher's lessons that really stayed with me.

BH: What do you want to be when you grow up?

ZT: I love animals. I would love to help injured animals when I grow up. I want to travel around the world – maybe somewhere in the Amazon!
