On Thursday, May 9th, Bucks Happening teamed up with Onur Marble & Granite to host the Industry100: Leaders in Construction + Design event, a gathering of the region's top movers & shakers in the construction industry. Over 100 invited guests were treated to an evening of meaningful networking as well as a ribbon cutting ceremony for Onur Marble & Granite's brand-new, state-of-the-art gallery showroom.

Onur Marble & Granite, a distinguished name in the stone fabrication industry, owes its inception to the vision and dedication of Ibrahim Memis and Sukru Ersoy. With decades of experience between them, Ibrahim and Sukru laid a strong foundation built on a wealth of knowledge and expertise. Their ultimate dream was to create a thriving family business that delivered exceptional quality and service to their clients.

In late 2022, a significant transition occurred when Ibrahim Memis, a pivotal figure in the business, decided to retire. This moment marked a new chapter for Onur, as Ibrahim’s children, Okan Memis and Yasemin Memis Akgun, along with Yasemin's husband, Bruce Akgun, joined forces with Sukru Ersoy to lead the company. Together, they embarked on a mission to drive the company toward new growth and innovation.

Reflecting on the journey, Yasemin Akgun shares, “Our people have been the number one factor in our overall success. With their hard work and dedication, we've been able to build lasting client relationships that have shaped who we are today.” This sentiment underscores the core belief at Onur that the strength of the company lies in its dedicated workforce.

However, the path to success was not without its challenges. In the early years, the company faced two significant hurdles. The first was sourcing the highest quality stone at competitive prices. Onur overcame this obstacle by establishing long-lasting relationships with vendors both domestically and internationally. The second challenge was finding skilled and experienced team members capable of fabricating and installing stone slabs, a task that requires both heavy labor and precision. To address this, Onur invested heavily in training and educating their employees, promoting from within to build a knowledgeable and committed team.

A pivotal moment for Onur was moving into a new, larger space. This move was a dream come true for everyone involved, as the previous space had become a limiting factor in the company’s growth. The new facility has enabled the launch of a new service and product line – facades – and the updating of machinery and equipment to boost production and output. Additionally, the expanded space has allowed for the growth of the team across all departments, including sales, fabrication, and installation.

Looking ahead, Onur’s goals remain steadfast. “Our goal at Onur is very simple; we want to provide the best customer service, install the utmost quality of material, and have fun doing it. We enjoy what we do and we like to think we’re pretty good at it,” says Okan Memis. This philosophy is deeply embedded in the company’s mission statement and values, emphasizing a commitment to quality, integrity, and community presence.
