On Saturday, October 1, the Newtown Athletic Club (NAC) will host a Brooklyn Half Marathon Pep Rally at 10:30 a.m. This event is open to both members of the NAC and the general public, and is for all ages. The event is free to attend and will be in support of Augie’s Quest, Matt’s Mission and the runners participating Rock n’ Roll Brooklyn Half Marathon on Saturday, October 8.

The Brooklyn Pep Rally is an event where the NAC encourages all to gather in the Brown Gym of their facility to get the half marathon runners pumped and prepped to do their best on race day. At the event there will be a performance from Rock Starz All Stars, NAC’s nationally award-winning cheerleading team, as well as the opportunity to participate in a short Zumba class with their renowned group exercise instructors.

Team Captain, Kate Golden, Director of Fitness and People Operations at the NAC commented, “ This event is one of the most ambitious ever on the part of the NAC and has already raised over $100,000 for the cause. We are still raising money in hopes of reaching an even higher goal.”

Over the past few months, the NAC has been forming a team to run in the Rock n’ Roll Brooklyn Half Marathon in the names of Matt Bellina and Frank Mongiello to raise more money for a cure for ALS. Whether you’re a first-time runner or endurance pro, Team Quest 4 ALS is a simple and fun event for members to train and fundraise for Augie’s Quest. The NAC has partnered up with other clubs throughout the country to raise critical funds for ALS research and Matt’s Mission. The Brooklyn Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon is a fun, urban New York race coupled with live bands and entertainment along the course on October 8, 2016. By competing on behalf of Team Quest 4 ALS, you will participate for those who can’t and speak for those who don’t have a voice.
