What does it mean to be a staple of a community? According to the dictionary a staple in this sense means a place that fulfills basic necessities. When one thinks of a staple of the Newtown community the Newtown Athletic Club – or as a true local refers to it “The NAC” – certainly comes to mind. The NAC is a place where, sure, you can have a run on the treadmill or workout with a trainer, but you can also visit the salon and spa, relax by the Escape Outdoor Resort Pool Complex, send your kids to camp or dance class, meet up with friends for a night out at the Escape Pool bar and restaurant, take one of the amazing and innovative fitness classes, and so much more.

“People want to be at the NAC because of the wide variety of choices we offer,” says Linda Mitchell, Director of public relations for the NAC. “After 37 years of providing services in Newtown we can see that NAC members value our lifestyle approach.”

The Newtown Athletic Club is dedicated to always improving the lifestyle of their members. We saw evidence of that with the addition of the outdoor pool complex just three years ago. Linda is proud of the NAC's ever improving outdoor facility.

“Each season we make improvements and additions.  This year, we completed roofing over our outdoor upper deck to facilitate more parties and special events. We also added amazing soft flooring for the splash pad area, making it even more fun and colorful.  We added 5 giant umbrellas for even more shaded areas including umbrellas with ambient lighting in our outdoor Escape dining area.”

If you haven't had a chance to check out the amazing facility at the Newtown Athletic Club, much less the paradise that is the Escape Outdoor Resort Pool Complex, take advantage of a trial pass. Linda explains, “Trying the NAC is easy.  Simply contact Membership Services and they can set you up with a trial pass.  Many folks try the NAC when they attend a special event here, such as a charity fundraiser or a birthday party for a child.  At various times throughout the year there are also membership incentives.”

The outdoor area, however, is not the only part of the club improving.  “The NAC is breaking ground in the early fall on a $10 million  renovation called ‘Breaking Boundaries‘ which will include the complete renovation and expansion of both the men's and women's locker rooms featuring state of the art design features, some never before seen in this country, such as glass windows in the men's locker rooms allowing natural light to flood the environment,” Linda explains. “There will be all new group exercise rooms, each with their own unique style and branding to further elevate the member experience.  The front entrance will be reconfigured to allow for a major expansion of the NACafe.  The lobby will allow direct access to a renovated and expanded Urban Allure Salon & Spa.”

In addition to all of the building improvements, the NAC will be expanding their already strong relationship with Aria Health. “Always on the cutting edge, the NAC's partnership with Aria Health, as our exclusive wellness program provider, is maverick in the industry.  The expansion will incorporate a wellness wing which will house a side variety of programs designed to position ‘exercise as medicine' positively affecting every disease condition from diabetes and obesity to heart disease, orthopedics and more.” Linda says.

Needless to say, the Newtown Athletic Club is and will continue to be a staple in the lifestyle of any resident of Newtown PA. “The NAC is already positioned as the third largest individually owned health club in the nation, this newest renovation will solidify that prestigious spot.” Linda says.
