The Newtown Athletic Club (NAC) and NAC member Kelly Beauparlant are hosting B.Y.O.B. Designer Bag Bingo in support of Matt’s Mission ALS Research on Thursday, June 23, 2016 from 7pm – 10pm. This event is open to the community and everyone is welcome.
The NAC has been raising money for ALS research over the past 11 years and in 2014 discovered that beloved member, Matt Bellina, was diagnosed with ALS and had begun taking part in the Precision Medicine Program at ALSTDI (Therapy Development Institute), located in Cambridge, MA. In addition, the NAC community also recently discovered that another member, Frank Mongiello, has also been diagnosed with ALS.
The funds raised through the B.Y.O.B. Designer Bag Bingo event will go fully towards Matt’s Mission and Augie’s Quest. Augie’s Quest is an aggressive; cure driven effort focused on finding treatments and cures for ALS. All of the proceeds raised for Matt’s Mission and Augie’s Quest go to the ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI). The ALS TDI is the world’s first and largest nonprofit biotechnology and drug Research Company focused 100 percent on ALS research.
The ALS TDI focuses on putting their efforts into cutting edge stem cell therapeutic programming and other scientific research to help as many people as possible and work towards discovering the cure to ALS. The stem cell research allows the ALS TDI to copy patient’s neural cells and test tens of thousands of compounds with the goal of normalizing the neurons. There is already technology that allows the ALS TDI to measure day to day disease progression which provides quick and up to date information to continue moving towards discovering a cure.
The B.Y.O.B. Designer Bag Bingo in honor of Matt Bellina and Frank Mongiello is open to everyone in the community. We invite you to donate online at http://newtownathletic.com/mattsmissionals/ or buy tickets online at Eventbrite.com.
