A hot topic among our friends & family is which restaurant makes the best sushi in Newtown, and I must admit it's a difficult question to answer. All three locations- Ota Ya, Oishi, & Mt. Fuji- are absolutely delicious and have their own devout patrons. Each has it's own unique atmosphere & special menu features to love.
Otaya
Ota Ya– Coincidentally, my love for Ota Ya began back in Manhattan, where they have a restaurant located on the Upper East Side. It was one of my earlier sushi experiences, probably the first time I really fell in love with sushi (ahh the memories). I was shocked to look down at the menu & find that their three locations were New York, NY, Lambertville, NJ & Newtown, PA. Since that meal, I've dined at all three locations on numerous occasions, my favorite rolls being the seaweed filled Ocean Rolls & heart-shaped Love Rolls. The Newtown & Lambertville locations are both BYOBs.
Oishi
Oishi– After a long day, Oishi is a welcome haven. Surrounded by the simplistic, modern decor, sipping on green tea or a glass of wine (Oishi is another BYOB) is immediately calming. The constant crowd waiting to eat there is a testament to their delicious food. While I always chose to get the sushi, my boyfriend often enjoys the Gopdol which looks amazing.
Mt. Fuji
Mt. Fuji– The newest arrival to Newtown, Mt. Fuji is quickly making a name for itself. The only non-BYOB of the bunch, Mt. Fuji features a small bar & trendy decor. The sushi is always fresh & the service always friendly. We love how they go above & beyond to plate the sushi. If you're super hungry, make sure to check out the Sumo Roll.
