Yes- Peddler's Village is one of Bucks County's biggest tourist destinations (and we are so thankful that it helps bring so many people down to our beautiful part of Pennsylvania). Over the last year, however, I've gotten the chance to see the other side of Peddler's Village- the side where local shop owners serve the community day in and day out.  I admit that initially I was surprised to find out that so many shops in the village offer products and services that I use everyday, yet I had never considered stopping in Lahaska on a regular old weekday.  I am so happy, though, that I opened my eyes and hope more people will uncover the hidden local gems within Peddler's Village. Here are some of my favorites:

The House of Coffee: This place has all of the pieces that add up to the perfect coffee shop. Most importantly, they hand roast gourmet coffee beans from all over the world so my cup of joe always tastes amazing. When I feel a little fancy, I can also choose from a variety of espresso drinks, gourmet teas, and pastries.  Their big cozy chairs and couches are the perfect place to sink into with a great book or bring along your lap top since the shop also offers free WiFi.  Best of all, many of their drinks are priced cheaper than Starbucks.  House of Coffee also has a special feature that any local will appreciate- you can call ahead with an order for easy pick-up (Rt. 202 traffic anyone?). I love this place.

Apricot Lane:  I am a big fan of dresses and recently discovered this adorable AND most importantly, affordable store called Apricot Lane tucked away in Peddler's Village.  I am now one step closer to my dream of never having to get a pair of pants again.

Happy hour anyone? Until we recently held our happy hour at Sweet Lorraine's, I am sad to say that I had never been over to the restaurant. For some reason, I considered Peddler's restaurants a place for special occasions.  Wrong again. Sweet Lorraines has an expansive bar, flat screen TVs, live music Wednesdays, and amazing happy hour deals for the everyday restaurant-goer. Earl's Bucks County also offer's some fantastic drink specials.  Throughout this week from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, they're featuring half price draft beer, bottled beer, wine-by-the-glass, select cocktails and martinis.

Casa Casale: If I happen to be within a five mile radius, the temptation of delicious Italian food samples is often too much for me to resist.  While the fine imported ingrediants can add up, I will often stop by to pick up just one or two items, which is enough to take my usually boring week-night dinner plans to the another level. They also offer a variety of fun cooking classes, which I intend to check out soon. Mangia!

River Yoga: Founder and Director, Parvathi Nath Saraswati, was born into a lineage of yogis from India. She came to the United States as a young girl, bringing with her the lineage and tradition of the Saraswati River Yoga Masters. The studio offers a variety of classes and discounts to students, seniors, and local members. Another fun option for locals are River Tango dance classes held on location.

Town Crier Bakery: Something about this place just makes you smile. Local husband and wife team, Kerry & Roseanne, along with their friendly staff will make you feel right at home. Plus, with their almost daily give-a-ways, they're always treating the locals. Follow them on Facebook to get in on the daily deals.
