With Valentine's Day just around the corner, what better time to explore the notoriously passionate dance of the Argentine Tango?  In April 2010, River Tango arrived in Lahaska, PA, introducing weekly beginner & intermediate Tango classes every Thursday from 8:15 – 9:30pm.  Enthusiastic dancers of all skill-levels arrive every Thursday to learn from instructors Maria de Sousa, who discovered her love for the dance growing up in Buenos Aires, and Pierre Baston, who earned a certificate from the professional Master’s Program of the Escuela Argentina de Tango.  While Maria & Pierre are spectacular to watch, they masterfully break-down the steps in a way that makes the beautiful dance less intimidating.

Laura Favin, River Tango's program coordinator, founded River Tango after falling in love with the dance back in New York City 15 years ago. “Dancing Tango has added such a beautiful richness to my life: the music, the movement, the people and community.  I am pleased to combine this with my love for Bucks County. What a wonderful combination.”

In additional to weekly lessons, River Tango hosts seasonal Milongas (social Tango gatherings) held around Bucks County.  Both classes and Milongas are the perfect way to explore a new craft and meet interesting new friends, especially since River Tango encourages students to switch partners frequently. Last Thursday, January 13th, Bucks Happening attended a Thursday night beginner class. We joined about twenty other students in learning the basics of the Argentine Tango and had a fabulous time doing it! If Tango is love, then we've fallen head over heals.
