For two years I have been on a mission to find a new hair stylist. I scoured the county from Penndel to Perkasie, you name a salon, and I bet you I can name a stylist! From consults to cuts, I’ve been in and out of hair salons across our great county. I didn’t think it was going to be such a difficult task. I mean we are a train ride away from NYC, home to some of the holy rollers of hair and their educational workshops. I myself was going to get on the train and head to Bumble and Bumble’s Midtown location in hopes of finding the professionalism, service and artistry I was looking for.
The rewards program at Salon Gratitude. What a fab idea!!
As of this past Saturday, and courtesy of Salon Gratitude in New Hope, I am happy to say that my one woman search party has been called off. When I called to book an appointment, I could tell this salon was different. A stylist by the name of Sergio took my call. He floored me. As we spoke, I could hear another phone line ringing off the hook at the salon. I was waiting for the usual and abrupt “I’m sorry, please hold”, and then before you can even say “yes” you’re listening to elevator music and a soothing voice that’s regurgitating the salon’s services and operating hours. But that didn’t happen, I was shocked, Sergio continued to focus on me and inquire about my hair until he was able to decide which of the salon’s stylist would best suit me.
When I arrived for my appointment, I was greeted by Sergio, who remembered me! While I was waiting for my appointment to start, the owner of the salon, Matt Beck, came over to me and introduced himself. He had responded to an email I wrote inquiring about the salons stylists. He too remembered me! And just so you know, this guy is the real deal (minus the ego that usually accompanies stylists of his caliber). Matt personally studies with Paul Mitchell, and is a national educator for Paul Mitchell Systems. Salon Gratitude, by the way, is a Paul Mitchell exclusive salon.
My stylist's name was Vanessa. She was AMAZING. Get this…. She listened to me. I mean really listened to me. She cared about my hair, like it was her own hair. Vanessa had the shears, but she gave me the control. Her goal was to give me exactly what I wanted. I have sat in plenty of stylist chairs thinking “what is he/she doing?” It’s a terrible feeling, and one I promise you will never have at Salon Gratitude. Vanessa gracefully transformed my hair into exactly what I was looking for. And she even ran out into the rain to put quarters in my meter, talk about service!
Bottom line is Salon Gratitude is serious about customer service. I was really impressed with the remarkable level of interest the salon professionals, at Salon Gratitude, had in every one of their patrons. Mind you they had no idea I would be writing a blog post, so it’s not like I was getting special treatment.
This salon, and your hair, are both worth the visit to Salon Gratitude. Even if you have a long time stylists who you are loyal to, you can still try one of their specialty washes like the “Hey Sugar Sugar” or “Lemon Aid” wash. Come ‘on… your stylist doesn’t even offer that service, so it wouldn’t even be considered cheating! Check them out for yourself at www.salongratitude.com. Or better yet, pop in and see their crew…. Just be prepared to get served!
