Not many people think about their clothing every time they step outside and its lack of protection from the sun. One Yardley resident, Colleen Dougherty Bronstein, wanted to change this after she was diagnosed with malignant melanoma in 1999. Immediately after this life changing diagnosis she came up with the idea of Sun Threadz, clothing made from 50+ UPF protection. These clothes promote sun protection and allow people to enjoy the outdoors without the worry of developing melanoma.
The athletic top is form fitting with great sun protection.
Although the idea started back in 1999 the product was not launched until 2008 after much research and hard work. Colleen’s daughter, Juliet, has helped with many of the designs and created the athletic top. After a spring break trip with friends, Juliet had sunburn in spots on her back due to poor application of sun block so the idea of the athletic top came about. Juliet thought it would be much easier to wear a comfortable top rather than worry about always applying sun block. In addition to Colleen and her daughter, Carole Williams, a sun safe advocate, also represents the company.
Due to Sun Threadz appeal and success they are featured in a number of local stores including Jac's Urbanwear in Newtown, Faith & Hope Boutique at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital and will shortly be in the Abington Faith & Hope Boutique. You can also buy online anytime at http://www.sunthreadz.com/. Sun Threadz offers a 10% discount to any cancer survivors. As of right now the clothing is for women and men but the next phase of Sun Threadz will include children.
The beautiful block print design can be added to any item.
Not only does Sun Threadz specialize in clothing but they offer a variety of accessories, swim wear and blankets. All of course offer sun protection for any occasion. You can also add a block print design to any item for an additional charge. This colorful ocean swirl pattern feature adds an artistic feel to any piece.
