There is still time to modify your summer bucket list with this guide to a good time in the Bucks area as the fun and the weather continue to heat up.



Concerts

Queue “Summer Nights” by Rascal Flatts — The most memorable and exciting summer nights typically take place at a concert. Enjoy various charming outdoor venues often accompanied by the perfect Bucks County summer sunset and live music performed by local and visiting artists.



McCoole's at the Historic Red Lion Inn

Stop by McCoole’s at the Historic Red Lion Inn for performances outside on the wagon showcasing a variety of musical performances and genres every Friday and Saturday from 6–9 pm. Budding but impressive artists and bands will be performing covers as well as original music that will have you dancing all night. Hannah Noel is a country singer/songwriter from Arizona who describes her music as “songs for the rural American hero.” She often performs in the Lehigh Valley and can be seen outside on the wagon at McCoole’s on August 16th singing covers from the 60’s to the present. Her original music can be downloaded on streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple music. McCoole’s is a local gem that emanates the rich and fascinating history lingering in Bucks County. Ghost sightings have taken place at the inn and it is common to find an orb in the photos you take at McCoole’s. It is also known to be a stop on the underground railroad with tunnels still hallowed out underneath the inn today. 



Crossing Vineyards & Winery

Crossing Vineyards & Winery will be hosting a Summer Wine and Music Series this summer with performances every Friday until September 6 at 7 pm. Tickets cost $20 in advance, $25 the week of the concert, or $155 for season tickets. Enjoy different musical performances including a variety of tribute bands, throwback bands and more! Come see the Slippery band — one of the top party bands on the East Coast. Delicious beverages including the Crossing “crushies,” and appetizers will be available for purchase. Bring your own lawn chair, sit back and relax, or get up and dance! 

Zlock Performing Arts Center 

Visit Zlock Performing Arts Center to see So Percussion and Caroline Shaw perform songs from their newest collaborative album Rectangles and Circumstance on August 23 at 7:30 pm. Tickets cost $22. Combining Shaw’s Pulitzer Prize winning composition skills and So Percussion, the voice and percussion quartet, the artists intertwine their chamber music and singer-songwriter storytelling to create a remarkable performance and a unique experience for the audience. 

A Summer Night at the Theater

Immerse yourself in a fictional world for the night at the theater with the many plays and interactive shows in Bucks County. Step out of your reality and become part of a new story while staying local.

Bucks County Center for the Performing Arts at Cock ‘n Bull Restaurant

Enjoy dinner and a show at The Cock n’ Bull Restaurant– Peddler’s Village’s most well-known restaurant standing since 1962. “Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding” is an immersive comedy show  performed by The Bucks County Center for the Performing Arts. Come see the humorous spectacle of an engaged Italian-American couple that encourages audience involvement. As written on their website “At Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding, you’re not just a member of the audience—you’re part of the family!” The themed dinner menu features chicken parmesan, sausage and peppers, rigatoni pomodoro, caesar salad, bread and butter, and wedding cake. Viewing options are August 23–24, 2 pm August 23–25, 7 pm and tickets are $85 per person. 

Bucks County Playhouse

Historically known as “America’s Most Famous Summer Theater,” the Bucks County Playhouse is the perfect spot to enjoy locally acclaimed productions. Purchase tickets on the Playhouse website to see the well-known classic “Grease” from August 9 — September 8. The Wall Street Journal describes the playhouse as “one of the top theaters on the East coast.” You will not want to miss this wonderful production directed by Tony nominated Broadway actor and Bucks County Playhouse’s Artistic Associate Hunter Foster. Foster already has a successful production of “Grease” under his belt at the North Carolina Theater where he previously directed the American favorite. Foster also performed in the Broadway production of “Grease” himself! 

Bristol Riverside Theatre

Enjoy the William Penn Bank Summer Music Fest with musical experiences and performances including The Neil Diamond Experience, and Forever Motown, taking place throughout the summer until August 18 at the Benjamin Franklin Middle School Theatre. The William Penn Bank Summer Music Fest is one of the principal seasons at the Bristol Riverside Theatre drawing in around 45,000 patrons local and visiting. Past lineups have proved impressive featuring local bands, cover bands, and nationally known bands such as the Indigo girls, The Commodores, and Collin Raye.

McCoole’s at the Historic Red Lion Inn

Enjoy live piano in the Martini Lounge at McCoole’s at the Historic Red Lion Inn on Saturdays until August 31 at 6 pm. The Martini Lounge holds a lot of unique history as each of the tables were created by a different classroom of Quakertown Middle School students. Quakertown High School students are attributed with the creation of the paintings in the windows of the bar and the back hallway. 

McCoole’s Arts and Events Place

Enjoy a night of inspiring slam poetry and put your own skills to the test at Slam Poetry Night at McCoole’s Arts and Events place. The event will feature local poet Lynda Gene Raymond, Words Come Easy Workshop writers, and the chance to perform your own poetry during the open mic. The event will take place on August 15 at 7 pm and admission is free. Lynda Gene Raymond is the founder of the Words Come Easy Workshop with a mission to “help new writers find their voice and develop confidence and those returning to their craft to find new forms and fresh ideas,” as written on her website. Raymond is very dedicated and passionate about her craft.
