beer-russian-river

On Saturday, January 30th, starting at 11:30am, Isaac Newtons will be tapping an array of award-winning beers from the highly-acclaimed Russian River Brewing Company!

Russian River is a cultural craft beer phenomenon. Pliny the Elder, their Double IPA introduced in 2000, is consistently ranked as one of the top beers in the world.

The beers confirmed to date are currently:

  • Pliny the Elder Double India Pale Ale (8%): Pliny the Elder is brewed with Amarillo, Centennial, CTZ, and Simcoe hops. It is well-balanced with malt, hops, and alcohol, slightly bitter with a fresh hop aroma of floral, citrus, and pine.
  • Blind Pig India Pale Ale (6.1%): Full-bodied, very hoppy, citrus, pine, fruity notes with nice dry, bitter finish!
  • Supplication (7%):  Brown Ale aged in used Pinot Noir barrels from local Sonoma County wineries. It is aged for about 12 months with sour cherries, brettanomyces, lactobacillus, and pediococcus added to each barrel. Flavors from the cherries, Pinot Noir and oak balance each other nicely with a little funk from the brett.
  • Consecration (10%): Dark Ale aged in Cabernet Sauvignon barrels from local wineries. It is aged for 4 to 8 months with black currants, brettanomyces, lactobacillus, and pediococcus added to each barrel. Rich flavors of chocolate truffle, spice, tobacco, currants, and a bit of Cabernet. Very full-bodied, sip slowly!
  • Temptation (7.5%): Blonde Ale aged in used Chardonnay barrels from local Sonoma County wineries. It is aged for about 9 to 15 months (depending on the age of the barrel) with lots of brettanomyces, lactobacillus, and pediococcus added to each barrel. Medium bodied with hints of oak and Chardonnay, funky brett characteristics, with a nice, long sour finish.

In order to accommodate as many patrons as possible to get a chance at some of these great beers, we are going to tap them in phases with the schedule being as follows:

11:30am – Temptation
12:30pm – Supplication
1:30pm – Blind Pig
2:30pm – Consecration
3:30pm – Pliny the Elder

And when all of that sampling works up an appetite, Isaac's is featuring lunch specials designed to pair with these amazing beers including a Cheese Board, Fried Rib/Pork Belly/Slab Bacon Taco “Pig Out” Combo, Chicken Cutlet and Proscuitto Sandwich, and a Marinated Flank Steak Sandwich.

Cheers!
