Is An Old Haunted Hotel Worth a Visit?

With a long and storied history dating back to 1715, the Plumsteadville Inn, is still a go-to watering hole for locals and those passing through Bucks County. Passing from owner to owner throughout the years, the location has seen many renovations and updates, as well as family squabbles, wartime, and is even rumored to have been a stop on the Underground Railroad. As the deed changed hands so did the name. From the original Hart Tavern to the Redrock Tavern, to Hockman's Hotel and finally in the early 1900's to the Plumsteadville Inn.

The Inn has also endured three devastating fires, and thousands of travelers, churning up rumors of ghosts and paranormal activities. With all the rich history some may wonder is it time for the Plum to hang up it's hospitality apron? Have the ghosts scared away patrons? What is happening at the Plum these days?

The Plum has something for everyone.

From a casual meet-up with friends on the outdoor patio to a historic pub feel and a bright and luxurious event space. Visit this unique property for a cocktail with friends, a family dinner, or an overnight stay. Loyalty Equals Happiness

With three centuries of history, a place like The Plum only exists with a lot of love and care from owners and also patrons. Mike Schluth's advertising and communications company, Alstin Communications, Inc. developed the Plum’s candlestick logo back in 2011. While Mike has done business with the Plum he has also been a regular patron of the “new” Plumsteadville Inn, since it reopened in January 2012. Mike shared that owner Matt George, along with his talented, dedicated staff, excel at menu selection, food preparation and of course bar, banquet, and table service. He loves the welcoming, enticing and most of all satisfying atmosphere of The Plum and highly recommends it as his favorite dining and drinking establishment.

Another loyal patron, Mike Wallis says,”The PI is my home away from home. Matt and all the staff make everyone feel like family. It's always a warm and comforting place to relax and enjoy great food and drinks. The menu is diverse, and while I have quite a few favorites, I like to try the chefs specials and always the soups. The soups are awesome! Time there makes me happy. It's my favorite place to go”.

Fabulous Food & Family All In One Spot

The Plum has been a part of the community for such a long time and credits their dedicated staff and customers for making it such a great place. From the words of employee Ashley Arnold, “Besides the food, service and history- of course- what makes the plum special is the camaraderie. This place is like my second home and everyone I work with is like family. I see them more than my real family sometimes! It is really unique when you can work in a place, where everyone from front of the house (management, bartenders, food runners, etc.) AND back of the house (chefs, prep cooks, etc.) truly care about one another. That’s really hard to find and it’s one of the main reasons I love my job”.

Employee Kathy Trucksess seconds that sentiment. She also values how the owner runs a tight ship and says it shows from the food to the service. In addition, Kathy always appreciates the loyalty and patronage of the customers. And speaking of customers, Kathy-Jo VanDerBogart, a server at The Plum since 2015 raves, “We have a wonderful clientele, a great crew and food that is easy to offer as well as delish”.  She shared that she spends most of her shifts laughing and enjoying the customers and the atmosphere.

It seems no matter who you ask it's a full circle of positive experiences within these historic walls. It seems those ghosts haven't scared away any of the joy, fun and love at the Plum.
