Last year, Bucks Happening was thrilled to attend the 1st ever Bucks County barcamp in Doylestown., where attendees met in a relaxed environment in the spirit of learning- to discuss ideas with other community leaders. This Thursday, October 20th, barcamp Bucks is assembling again, but this time at Occasions in New Hope. Hope to see you there!
What is “BarCamp”?
BarCamp is an international network of user-generated conferences (or unconferences). They are open, participatory workshop-events, the content of which is provided by participants. It is a casual event where participants come with ideas they want to talk or learn about, the most popular topics are then chosen, and impromptu discussions ensue.
When is “BarCamp”?
Thursday October 20th, 5-9 pm. Occasions 560 Union Square Drive, New Hope, PA 18938 (near Triumph Brewery). In New Hope meters run until 9 PM. There is parking within Union Square and will cost approximately $2.00 from 5-9.
Who should attend “BarCamp”?
Creativity is the key here, so if you are in a creative profession, own a business where thinking creatively about your product or service is important, or work in a business where you provide creative solutions to business challenges, you will fit right in.
Designers – Copywriters – Brand Managers – Marketers – Film Makers – Industrial Designers -Web Developers – Account Executives – Patent and Intellectual Property – Attorneys – Videographers – Photographers – Social Media Specialists – Illustrators – Small Business Owners
What will be discussed at “BarCamp”?
We have divided the main topics into 3 categories, TOOLS, STRATEGY, AND CREATIVITY. The topics within each category are a general guide to what might be discussed. This list, can and should grow organically depending on what you want to discuss or learn about.
How it works:
Arrive at 5pm – Registration opens at 5pm and you will have 45 minutes to enjoy a beverage, network and post the three topics you would like to talk about on the board. This is a casual event, but come prepared, projectors will be supplied if you would like to better illustrate your discussion with a laptop. At approximately 5:45 we will vote on the topics to be talked about during the night.
Discussions start at 6pm – We will split into smaller groups and openly discuss the winning topics over the next 3 hours. If your topic is picked you will be asked to lead the discussion. This can be structured as a talk given by you – or a simple open forum discussion, including and pulling from the wealth of knowledge in the room! You can attend whatever topic you wish.
Networking, beer & wine at 9pm – We will have much to discuss, so stay for awhile, drink, network and be merry!
Will there be beer?
Well, in the true spirit of “barcamp” YES, you can purchase beer or wine at the event!
