The Bucks County Playhouse has had a rich history of being the first theater to premiere many famous Broadway plays and musicals. Over the past few decades the Playhouse has seen its ups and downs, but with it's relaunching in July 2012 we are happy to report that it is back to its history changing broadway premiere status.
The Tony nominations came out this week and it is not a surprise to see that two nominations are up for the beautiful play, Mothers and Sons, which premiered at the Playhouse last summer and is still running on broadway starring the incomparable, and Tony nominated, Tyne Daly. The other nomination goes to it's writer Terrence McNally who was also seen at the Playhouse last year starting opposite James Earl Jones in Love Letters.
New York is just a short drive or train ride away from us here in Bucks but the Playhouse is even closer. So the next time you hear about a potential Broadway show being tried out at the Playhouse, check it out. You just might be catching the Tony awards on TV and get to say “I saw them when…” in Bucks County!
