When Shannon Kirby, a Bucks County native, set out to renovate her 1970s-era home, she knew the project would require more than just a few updates. What began as a vision for a modern, functional living space became a full-scale transformation—one that was completed in just four months thanks to the expertise of Milex Residential.

A Complete Home Makeover

“Basically every room in the house was redone,” Kirby explained. Hardwood floors throughout the home were refinished, while two additions—one on the first floor and one on the second—meant the siding and roof needed to be replaced. Even the roofline required re-sloping to accommodate the new design. In the end, the entire exterior received a dramatic refresh, blending seamlessly with the updated interior.

The results speak for themselves. Visitors have been astonished by the before-and-after transformation. “People have been blown away with the stark contrast between an original house from the ’70s and what it looks like now,” Kirby said.

Collaboration at Every Step

For Milex Residential, open communication was key to the project’s success. Project Manager Gerry emphasized the importance of working closely with the homeowner throughout the renovation:

“Being in constant contact with the homeowner makes it very easy to navigate the project as it goes along. We were able to attack everything as it came up in a timely manner, which kept the project moving at a rapid speed.”

That teamwork extended to the design phase as well. Milex’s design team collaborated with Kirby to ensure each element—from flooring to fixtures—aligned with her vision. When it came time to reimagine the home’s original honey oak fireplace, Milex drew inspiration from Kirby’s ideas and delivered a custom centerpiece that perfectly complemented the modern aesthetic.

Transparency & Trust

What set Milex apart from other contractors was the level of detail and transparency they provided from the very beginning. Kirby recounted that she received a detailed proposal that clearly laid out the scope of work, compared to one-page or less quotes she received from others.

“Milex was really helpful with understanding if I wanted to have a premium choice or a budgeted area,” Kirby said. “Steve initially was really helpful with breaking down the proposal and showing me where I could save money.” This value engineering process, as Milex Residential refers to it, allows homeowners to make important choices about where to splurge and where to save. That clarity gave Kirby confidence in every decision and reinforced her trust in Milex’s process.

A Project to Remember

For Milex Residential, this project was more than just another renovation—it was a highlight. “This was one of my favorite projects because everything came together so coherently,” Gerry shared.

From vision to execution, the partnership between homeowner and builder transformed a dated 1970s house into a stunning, modern home—delivered with precision, speed, and care.
