This year, Michael Amery found a special way to show his respect for veterans. Amery, proprietor of the Inn at Bowman's Hill, a luxury 4 diamond bed & breakfast nestled in the woods of New Hope, had enrolled to host several veterans at his inn in via the “Better Way to Stay” program. After meeting the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs (General Martin Dempsey) recently, he was inspired to up the ante. He invited the “Bishop of Jazz” Rio Clemente, also a veteran, to perform for the guests of the inn. Rio Clemente defines patriotism. From his service in the navy, to his continued service to the auxiliary coast guard, Rio professed his love for his country among friends and fellow veterans. Beyond his service to the country, Rio was blessed with unimaginable musical talent. In 2001, Rio Clemente was invited to the White House to perform. On 9/11, Rio was on a flight to Colorado, which was of course grounded. This struck a chord with Rio, and he was inspired to record the album America's Spirit Rediscovered. However due to the way the country was shaken in 2001, Rio never did get the opportunity to play at the White House. Rio told the group that it is his “ultimate dream to play in the White House.” Judging by this performance, I think you will agree that Mr. Clemente surely deserves the opportunity.
