The bar at the Yardley Inn
Having grown up in Yardley, I have known the Yardley Inn for a number of years. Over that period of time, I've seen it take on different moods and flavors. I am really enjoying the most recent incarnation of the place. With a sizeable bar, great views of the Delaware River and an affordable menu, what's not to love?
Last week I had the pleasure of going to happy hour. People have been recommending their happy hour to me for a while, but it was one of those things that always slipped my mind. Let me first say that I am not the only person who know about their happy hour deals- the bar was packed when I arrived at 6PM- I was lucky that my friends had saved me a seat. In the interest of full disclosure, I will say that the crowd is skewed to the “sophisticated” end (read: a bit older than myself) but, there was a healthy mix given the fact that Yardley is a bit older in demographic.
From 5-7 PM, the bar offers great drink deals: $5 house wine, beer & martinis. Additionally, there's a great selection of $5 appetizer specials, including oysters, “tiers of taste” and more. I really enjoyed my espresso martini (he used real espresso instead of just coffee liqueur!). I love that their happy hour lasted until 7- it's great for those of us who end up working later and can't always make the more traditional 4-6 happy hour specials. I hope that more bars hop on board the 5-7 PM train!
After happy hour ended we had dinner in the restaurant. I was actually pretty full from my oysters during happy hour, so I just stuck with a salad. I will definitely be heading back to Yardley Inn many times this summer!
Shout out to @jaredpolin, the current “mayor” of Yardley Inn on Foursquare. You can't miss him with his giant fro!
