Business owners know that having enough cash on hand to build, sustain or grow a business is essential. Yet, no matter what stage, finding the funding may be a challenge. However, the U.S. Small Business Administration makes it easier by providing helpful information through its annual Meet the Lenders event, scheduled for Fri., April 6, from 9 am to noon.

The event gives businesses the opportunity to identify lenders able to work with them to meet their financial goals. Business owners will have 10 minutes to pitch their company to a lender and then move on to another lender. If goals and needs seem to match a lender’s portfolio they will schedule future in-depth appointments.

How to Prepare

The SBA works in conjunction with several partner organizations such as SCORE of Bucks County, Small Business Development Centers in the region and the Women’s Business Center in Philadelphia. Small Business Development Centers servicing Bucks County are located at Lehigh University and Temple University.  These local groups are dedicated to small business initiatives and growth. Each organization provides its own resources such as mentoring, workshops, education and assistance with accessing loans.

Additionally, these groups provide prep courses prior to the pitch event so that business owners come fully prepared. Prep Workshops include topics such as “Marketing Plans,” “Business Assessment,” “Entrepreneurial Success Workshop Series,” and “Creating a Business Plan.” Register for any of these workshops by going to the Meet the Lenders 2018 page at www.widenersbdc.org/meetthelenders2018.
