A couple weekend's ago, mid-detox, I took a risk & ventured out to eat with my boyfriend. To keep my cleanse on track, we decided to visit New Hope's Sprig & Vine, a vegetarian option fairly new to the area. While I had already been on a vegetarian diet as part of my detox, my boyfriend, a meat-lover, was a bit more apprehensive. To ease his mind, he stopped in at Triumph, which is just a few store-fronts over, to grab a growler of delicious beer. Lucky for me, temptation for the deliciously fresh lager was curbed by the extensive list of exotic teas available at Sprig & Vine. Things were off to a promising start…
Herbal Tea vs. Triumph Growler
We started the meal by splitting an appetizer of Edamame Falafel with black sesame tahini. It was deliciously crispy, cooked until golden brown. With four bite-sized falafels, it was a fitting portion for two to share.
Next, it was time for the entrees. While the list is limited, with five main entrees to choose from, they are all rich with detail. In the end, he opted for Seared Local Polenta Cake with roasted carrots, fingerlings, oyster mushrooms, broccoli rabe, saffron-carrot sauce, & almond romesco while I chose the African Groundnut Stew with ginger & chile-spiced winter squash, fingerling potato & peanut stew, millet-crusted green tomato, & slow-braised collards. (Both pictured below).
Sprig & Vine allowed my tastebuds to take quite the adventure, even mid-detox! I'll certainly be back to sample more of their delicious vegetarian dishes in the future.
