The United Way of Bucks County Launches Bucks Women a Bucks County Women’s Initiative

The United Way of Bucks County has launched its Bucks County Women's Initiative, Bucks Women. The 2012 kick-off event for Bucks Women, Power of the Purse, will take place on Thursday, March 8, 2012, International Women’s Day. This grant-making dinner and auction, which celebrated its 20th year in 2011, will remain a signature event for Bucks Women. Lynn Doyle, host and executive producer for “It’s Your Call with Lynn Doyle,” will serve as emcee.

BKWG is a 60's, 70's 80's & 90's cover Rock Band comprised of local business people who are Rotarians from the Central Bucks Rotary Club. The band was started in late 2009 by Jack Skudris, lead guitar, Kevin Kaufmann, drums, Jeff Harrison, bass, and Joe Price, rhythm guitar, and was joined in 2010 by Bob Kadel, keyboard, and Taylor Presnell, lead singer.

Roomful Of Blues returns for a non-stop, hip-shaking party performing music from their new CD “Hook, Line and Sinker” featuring songs from the likes of Little Richard, Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown and Floyd Dixon among others. Inspired by the spirit of groundbreaking music of post-World War II, Roomful breathes new life into vintage classics, infusing them with boundless energy and fiery, swinging solos and vocals.
A Philly native, Sister Blue fronts a driving blues band, with powerful vocals and stinging guitar leads. For variety, Sister Blue also leads an acoustic duo, playing blues and ragtime, including renditions of her favorite Bessie Smith songs, as well as compostions of her own.

Live At The Fillmore is a professional concert band performing the music of the original Allman Brothers Band which included Duane Allman, Greg Allman, Dickey Betts, Berry Oakley, Jai Johnny Johnson and Butch Trucks. Its members are all respected musicians in their own right, currently based in the greater Philadelphia tri-area, each with their own accreditation.

Come celebrate Irish-American heritage and culture in Bucks County at the 24th Annual Bucks County St. Patrick's Day Parade! The 2012 Grand Marshal is Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor Jim Cawley!
This year's Parade theme is, “Remember Our History, Protect Our Future”. The theme was chosen by the Parade Committee to promote awareness within the local Irish-American community of Tay-Sachs disease, a deadly, genetic disease of the nervous system. Its most common variant, known as infantile Tay-Sachs, causes a rapid deterioration of mental and physical abilities that usually results in death by the age of 4.

This contemporary blues/jazz/funk ensemble formed in 2009 from a collaborative performing and recording project. It quickly caught the ear of multi-Grammy winning producer, Phil Nicolo, of Studio 4, who continues to help the band’s development.
