Each fall, an extraordinary group of Bucks County women gather to arrange an extraordinary event- Makefield Women's Association (MWA) Autumn Fest.
This diversely talented group of Yardley-Makefield Women is dedicated to raising funds for local organizations that benefit both the community and worthy humanitarian causes. MWA, formerly known as The Yardley-Makefield Jaycees Auxiliary, was first formed in the early 1960's, and has been a driving force in the community ever since.
Autumn Fest, their largest annual fundraiser, is one of the most anticipated local events of the festive fall season in Bucks County. On Saturday, September 19th, 2015, dozens of unique craft vendors, entertainers, local businesses, and nonprofits will gather at the picturesque Shady Brook Farm in Yardley. And this year, the group is adding an extra tasty twist – dozens of the finest local food trucks!
Over fifteen gourmet food trucks will be there as well as other yummy food vendors serving mouth-watering creations. Here is a preview:

Kids will enjoy free pumpkin painting and face painting, a magician, a dunk tank, and autumn-themed family portraits. MWA’s desirable raffle baskets will again take center stage at the MWA booth and fantastic prizes such as an XBOX ONE, an Apple iPad, an American Girl Doll, a Coach designer handbag, and numerous gift certificates to local restaurants are just a few of the many items that you could win! This year, the two local nonprofit organizations that will receive 100% of the proceeds from the sales of our raffle basket tickets are Yardley’s Garden of Reflection 9-11 Memorial and Morrisville’s Ivin’s Outreach Center.
Musical acts will take the stage throughout the day and include a local band called “Damage Control”, MWA’s very own Kyrie London, and Miss Marilyn from Kids Music Round.
And let’s not forget the crafters! MWA's Autumn Fest always features unique and talented artists, artisans, and crafters.
Sponsors of the event, many of whom will be present, include: ShopRite of Yardley, Growing Smiles in Floral Vale, Customers Bank, Appletini Photography, Parx Casino, Mercer Bucks Cardiology, Design For Vision, Capital Health, McCaffrey’s Food Market, Boro Chiropractic/Bucks County Therapies, Newtown Friends School, Sunrise Senior Living, Dowd’s Mechanical Heating & AC, Reedman Toll Auto World, Cooper Pest Solutions, and Prancing Peacock.
“Autumn Fest would not be possible without the support of all of our generous sponsors, including all of the local businesses who have donated items to our famous raffle baskets this year”, said Carolyn Fogel, MWA Autumn Fest Chairperson. “Make sure to stop by the MWA Raffle table to buy some tickets. The most important mission of the day is raising funds for our deserving beneficiaries!” she said.
There is no admission to get into Autumn Fest and entertainment is free, however donations will be accepted, and 100% will go to MWA beneficiaries. Parking is also free.
“This is really going to be a fun day and we are so excited to put on this event for our community”, said Betsy Walker, MWA Publicity Chairperson. “Shady Brook Farm offers the perfect canvas to create this large-scale event while providing plenty of parking for the over 15,000 guests we are expecting to see.”
Local beneficiaries include: Yardley-Makefield Fire Company, The Yardley-Makefield Library. A Woman’s Place, Aid For Friends, Apartment Partners, Bucks County Housing Group, Bucks for Kids, FSA Homeless Shelter, Garden of Reflection, Ivins Outreach, Penndel Food Pantry, Pennsbury High School Scholarships, and A Woman’s Place.
