2018 Family Summer Guide


Bucks County is a great place to soak up the summer sun or spend a rainy day, from rural farms to shopping centers and indoor play parks. Townships and cities multiply the fun with outdoor activities all season long. Whether you are looking for the perfect lake to sail or a place for you and your kids to learn a new skill, you can find it this summer in our amazing county. This Summer Fun Guide will help plan your perfect summer.  

Indoor Summer Fun

Peddler’s Village and Giggleberry Fair
167 Carousel Lane, New Hope

Giggleberry Fair at Peddler’s Village is known for its indoor carousel, but it's so much more. It's a family play area, game room, and offers the area’s largest indoor obstacle course, Giggleberry Mountain.

It's also the home of Giggles Discovers . A place of investigation and exploration for toddlers and preschool children. Entertainment areas include the Giggles Fire Station, where children can explore an authentic wooden fire truck, ring the fire bell, put on fire hats, jackets and boots and a water play area. The game room at Giggleberry Fair features more than 40 of the newest games on the market. All games are rated “E” for everyone.

Bluegrass and Blueberries

Celebrate National Blueberry Month in July with everything blue at the Peddler's Village Bluegrass and Blueberries Festival. Come hungry and ready for a weekend brimming with locally grown blueberries and blueberry treats and a line-up of the best bluegrass music in the region.

Peach Festival and Annual Sidewalk Sale
Sat, August 11, 2018 to Sun, August 12, 2018
The Summer Sidewalk Sale begins on Friday, August 11. Shops are open until 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Rain or shine.

Penelope Fox Art Studio
10 Canal St., Bristol

July 21, 2018 11:00 a.m. Penelope Fox will be hosting a 5th Birthday Craft Fair Celebration. The studio will be celebrating five years in business. The event will be free for all to attend and will include a showcase of local artists, crafters and performers. There will be several activities for kids such as canvas painting, sing-a-long, face painting and balloon art.

Teachers and professional artists and educators teach classes for novices all the way up to working artists with advance techniques. In addition to fine art classes, the studio offers classes and workshops in mosaic, sewing, floral arrangement and more as well as paint parties for all ages.

The Newtown Athletic Club, known as The NAC, is a perfect mix of indoor and outdoor summer fun. For the parents who want a workout, they offer over 300 hours of group exercise per week. They also offer childcare in the Kid's Club so parents don't have to worry while they break a sweat. They have a wide-variety of youth programs like taekwondo, gymnastics, soccer, Zumba and many others. And for those who need to cool down, they have both indoor and outdoor pools. The outdoor pool is like a luxury waterpark with cabana rentals and pool-side meal service.

Safari Animal Show and Bounce scheduled for June 28th, 2018 from 10:30-1:00pm
Kids are $19.95 and parents are free for this event. Enjoy an hour animal show featuring 19 different animal presented by Safari Adventures and then enjoy 60 minutes of Bouncing. Pizza and drinks will be served at 12:30pm. Bounce U is an indoor climate controlled Bounce Stadiums make us the perfect destination for kids to come and bounce their hearts out. From private birthday parties to team parties, open preschool bounces to family cosmic nights, mom’s clubs, fundraisers and more. Throughout the summer there are open bounces announced on their webpage and Facebook.

Sky Zone

Keep kiddos from bouncing off the walls this summer by letting them bounce it out at a trampoline park. Sky Zone offers free jumps as well as birthday parties, and corporate team building events. They have new types of jumps all the time, rock climbs, dodge ball and many other activities perfect for sky lovers, thrill seekers, and people who just want to jump.

Sew Much Fun Studios

Kids and adults alike can learn sewing basics like hand sewing, working on a sewing machine, and working with patterns.

Dynamix Gymnastics
181 Wheeler Court, Langhorne

The gymnastics center is home to competitive teams as well as for-fun classes, camps, kids night out, gymnastics fun night, and open gym time.

Bucks County Children’s Museum
500 Union Square Drive, New Hope

This museum connects children with the world around them through play in interactive exhibits and is in walking distance to other popular New Hope attractions.

The County Theater
20 E. State Street, Doylestown

One Saturday per month the County Theater will host a family-friendly movie. Guests are invited to come early at 10 a.m. for fun activities before the show at 10:30. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for kids 15 and under.

Step out into Nature

Tyler State Park
101 Swamp Road, Newtown

This state park is 1,711 acres of hiking trails that host guided walks, history hikes, and horseback riding trails. The park is also home to Langhorne Players volunteer community theatre and Tyler Park Center for the Arts that offers classes and workshops.  On a warm day its the perfect spot to dip your feet in the water, fish or canoe.

Tyler Park  Center for the Arts. They will offer three art intensive weeks. Creative days are planned Monday – Friday 9:30 – 3:00 (ages 8 – 16) for the weeks of:
June 25th – 29th
July 23rd – 27th
August 27th – 31st
The cost will be $325 per week, materials fee included.

Ringing Rocks Park
Ringing Rocks Road, Upper Black Eddy

This is a place that truly rocks. Bring a hammer because the rocks in the geological formation actually ring. There are hiking trails, as well as nature and picnic areas.  It's the perfect place for a warm weather family outing. Make sure to bring plenty of water and your hiking shoes.

Bucks County has more than 7,000 acres of parkland.

Middletown Grange Fair
576 Penns Park Rd, Newtown
August 15 – 19, 2018
The fair includes great food, live entertainment, amusements, vendors and judged exhibits! The famous chicken dinners will be back as well as the crowd favorite Dancing Diggers.

Brown Bag it With the Arts
Bucks County Courthouse Lawn

From summer through September the Bucks County Courthouse lawn turns into a party. All you have to bring is your sense of fun and a lunch. Check out the schedule to see which musical guests are lined up for this season.

Bowman’s Hill Nature Preserve
1635 River Road, New Hope

Bowman’s Hill is recognized for its diverse landscape and over 700 native plant species. Explore the 2.5 miles of trails that wind through forests and meadows, along streams and ponds. You can also enjoy the bird observatory, a labyrinth, hands-on activities for children, and a butterfly trail.

Snipe’s Farm and Education Center
890 West Bridge Street, Morrisville

Reconnect with the land and learn about sustainable farming and learn where your food comes from. They offer hands on activities for children as well as adult and family classes, potluck meals, and fitness events.

Nockamixon State Park
1542 Mountain View Drive, Quakertown

The lake is a rest stop for migrating water birds as well as a destination for boaters and fishermen. You can picnic, swim in the pool, hike, bike, play disc golf, fish, boat, or camp.

For the better part of the past decade, the stretch of the Delaware River situated between New Hope, Pennsylvania and Lambertville, New Jersey has been the backdrop for a number of fireworks displays, delighting children and adults alike.  From locals to tourists, the Friday night shows have become synonymous with summer.
