Halloween is in the air in Bucks County. With ghost stories, moon-lit tours, and hayrides in abundance, there is no shortage of thrilling events to attend this week. The question is, are you brave enough? Check out our weekly guide, and don't worry, we'll include a few tame events as well.
Relax:
For those of you seeking a relaxing weekend event without any Halloween horrors, there are 2 fantastic opportunities to enjoy an evening of fine music in Bucks. On Saturday, October 23, The Bucks County Symphony will host it's fall concert at CB East High School in Doylestown from 8-10pm. The program will include Bach's Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D Major, Wagner's Prelude to Parsifal, Respighi's The Pines of Rome, and Mozart's Concerto for Flute and Harp, featuring Julietta Curenton on flute and Bridget Kibbey on harp. Admission is $20 for adults, $15 for seniors & students. Also, you can catch the Newtown Chamber Orchestra with their performance “The French Connection” at 7:30 pm at Bucks County Community College.
On Saturday, from 10am-4pm, attend the Pumpkin Festival at None Such Farms in Buckingham, PA. This annual Pumpkin Festival includes Pick-Your-Own Pumpkins, Live Country Music, Hayrides, Pony Rides, Face Painting, Tot Train Ride, Great Food & Hot Cider.
On Saturday, 10/23 grab your pets and head over to the Howl-o-ween Costume Parade & Bone Hunt in Doylestown from 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m at the Central Park Pavilion. Ghoulish greyhounds, devilish dachshunds, poodle princesses and butterfly bulldogs are all welcome! Bring your well mannered, leashed canine friend and family to the park for a howling good time that celebrates our faithful four-legged friends. This event features pet-related exhibitors, activities, demonstrations and contests, including: Funniest costume, Scariest costume, Most creative costume, Dog/Owner Look-a-Like (costume), Best in group. Scare Your Pants Off:
On Friday night, attend Mercer by Moonlight at 7pm, 8pm, or 9pm. Discover the history and folklore of some of the Mercer Museum’s more chilling and ghoulish objects including a hearse, gallows, “witch” doctor's canes, brooms and more on this seasonal nighttime tour. Family friendly for ages 8 and up. Registration required. $12 adults/$10 member adults, $8 youth/$6 member youth Call 215-345-0210, ext. 123.
Get ready for Gaggles of Ghosts and Ghouls from 6:30-9pm on Friday, 10/22 at Peace Valley Nature. Led by a naturalists teacher, you will be led on an eerie walk through the trails of PVNC. Along the way you may meet some “creatures” that will expose some of the myths about the creepy and frightening nature of cats, rats, bats, snakes, ghosts, and other things that go bump in the night. After the walk, relax at our warming fire with toasty, gooey marshmallows. Walks are ongoing throughout the evening. No pre-registration necessary.
On Friday, October 22nd, head to Triumph Brewery in New Hope for the 2nd Annual Mischief March for the 8pm party and 12am costumed march. This year’s theme “Werewolves, Vampires & Fairies” was inspired by the popular cult HBO drama, “True Blood.” The Mischief March will captivate the night as wickedly dressed patrons travel the streets of New Hope. Mischief Marchers will receive a private reception at Triumph Brewery followed by discount drinks and food at participating restaurants. Costumed participants must be 21 years or older. $20
Take a ride on the dark side onboard the Haunted Halloween Train on the New Hope/Ivyland Railroad. Tip: Adults- get first class tickets to enjoy the bar cart.
Still looking for something scarier? On Saturday, October 23rd at 7pm and 8:30pm, travel back to 1929 at the Ghost and Star Gazing event at Bowman’s Hill Tower. Listen to a spooky tale by Edgar Allan Poe and ascend the historic tower to gaze across the countryside in the moonlight. Event is not recommended for young children.
