Visit Lake Lenape Park in Sellersville to participate in a special Arbor Day contest! Enjoy some fresh air and a self-directed activity with your family while practicing safe social distancing. The Sellersville Parks and Recreation Board is hosting a Tree-Naming Contest from April 15 through Arbor Day, April 24.

Visit the website www.sellersvilleboro.org or download the map and entry form from these links here, as well as photographs of the 12 selected trees for this year’s contest. Lake Lenape Park is the home of many wonderful trees, and those who spend time in the park have come to appreciate and feel affection for many of them. If you want to follow along with the map, use the entrance on Walnut Street near its junction with Temple Avenue. Park near the Boy Scout Cabin. The area included encompasses most of Lake Lenape Park, from the War Memorial to the Little League fields. Walk through the park to find selected trees marked with a green ribbon and numbered sign, which corresponds to a number on the map. Write in your creative name for the tree and then submit your entry form by scanning and emailing to the Sellersville Borough Office, or mail though the post office.

After the contest is over, the Board will announce the “winners” on the Sellersville Borough website. Later, they will inscribe plaques with the name of the tree as well as the person who named it. The Parks & Recreation Board hopes that this will be just the first in a series of tree-naming contests to be held yearly on Arbor Day.
