Summer 2011 is going out with a bang in Bucks County. From traditional Labor Day events (read more in our Labor Day Guide) to first Friday festivities, get ready to make the most of this three day weekend. Check out the Bucks Happening calendar, restaurant guide, and guide to soaking up the end of summer for more fun ideas

The start of September also means it's time to take advantage of First Friday events in Doylestown & Perkasie. At Puck, Bob Kadell Wears Glasses is playing a FREE concert at 8pm. Then, scooter fans are invited to attend First Friday in Perkasie from 6 pm to 9 pm at the corner of 7th and Market. Enjoy live music by “Unsafe at Any Speed,” FREE wine tasting at The Olde Farmhouse Soap Shoppe and Frox, and several vendors, as well as in-store specials.

Do you have the end of the summer blues? Well, the Temperance House in Newtown has the perfect Saturday night event for you. The Scoville Blues will be playing an exciting Blues set in the Tavern at 8pm. Check out a sneak peak below:

On your mark, get set, go! Sunday morning marks the 2nd Annual Bucks County Duathlon in Washington Crossing Park, PA. Join hundreds of athletes from the Delaware Valley and beyond for a fun filled morning of racing. All Money raised from the event will benefit two worthy causes: The Washington Crossing Visitors Center, and the Missy Flynn Fund, which provides financial aid for medical assistance to the Newtown athlete who survived a life-threatening brain aneurysm five years ago.

As our nation marks the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on September 11, 2011, Central Bucks Family YMCA will offer free memberships to active and retired military and their families during the week of September 5 – September 11. Veterans can take advantage of our fitness center, gymnasium and aquatics center during that special week and participate in select programs and classes at no charge. Veterans will be presented with a special Y pin so they can be recognized and thanked by staff and members for their service to our country. A flag ceremony and moment of silence are also scheduled for 9/11. Please join us in thanking these Americans for their service and sacrifice for our country. Doylestown DART service is available throughout the day.
