With the crisp fall weather finally making it's 2010 debut, we are more excited about fall than ever. One of the best things about the season, especially in Bucks County, is celebrating the harvest. The food is at it's freshest and more delicious than ever. With so many options, where do you begin? We'd start with these:
The Washington House in Sellersville, PA will host a variety of yummy fall tastings including the Oktoberfest Buffet 10/13 – 10/14 and the Pumpkin Beer Tasting on 10/29.
Speaking of pumpkin beers, try the newly released Hippo-Lantern at Lambertville's River Horse Brewing Co. at their Oktoberfest celebration October 9-10th.
It's the perfect time of year to visit the wineries of Bucks County. On October 9-10th, the Bucks County wine trail presents the Harvest Festival, where you can sample freshly pressed juice and newly fermented wine. Also, stop in at the Chaddsford's Tasting Room in Peddler's Village throughout October for Spiced Apple Wine Sundays.
Enjoy a range of fall coffees at the House of Coffee including flavors like Apple Crumb Cake, Cinnamon, & Pumpkin.
There are so many wonderful restaurants that feature fall menus. Try Tastebud's (New Hope) homemade gnocchi, acorn squash, escarole, parmigiano reggiano, mushroom broth, The Hamilton Grill Room‘s (Lambertville) autumn menu features Crab Stuffed Artichoke, or Maize‘s (Perkasie) Crab Cake, Roasted Corn, Red Pepper, Vanilla Corn Sauce.
Shady Brook Farm in Yardley is a fall food paradise with homemade pies, fresh produce, Pumpkinfest & of course, Uncle Dave's Pumpkin Ice Cream (also available at Del Val Creamery).
On October 24th, Pennsbury Manor will demonstrate how colonials made cider and share the bounty after their done.
Last but not least, get ready to sample everything apple on November 6-7th at the Apple Festival at Peddler’s Village, featuring favorites like apple butter, cider, dumplings, and fritters!
