Can you believe it's already October? September flew by in a blur of fabulous fall events, but luckily Bucks County's just getting started. Check out some of the great events happening in Bucks this week and as always, check in on our calendar & fall guide for other suggestions.
On Saturday, October 2nd, celebrate the start of October with Bensalem's Fall Festival at TD Bank Ampitheater from 11am to 10pm. This annual community celebration is held on the beautiful grounds of the Bensalem Municipal Complex and highlights all that is distinctive about Bensalem township. Check out their jam-packed schedule including a Saturday night Disco Inferno dance party. Don't miss out on this wonderful family day featuring an evening concert, fireworks, a car show, amusements, food, and crafts. Rain date set for October 3rd.
Dr Jekyll & Mr. Hyde at the BRT
A new and shocking version of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic tale of lust, love and horror, Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, opens this weekend at the Bristol Riverside Theater. On the fog-bound streets of Victorian-era London, Henry Jekyll's experiments with exotic “powders & tinctures” have brought forth his other self – Edward Hyde, a sensualist and villain free to commit the sins Jekyll is too civilized to comprehend. The two sides battle each other in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse to determine who shall be the master and who his slave. Jeffrey Hatcher has written a play that honors the original but gives a more complex interpretation of mankind's dual relationship with good and evil. The play will run until October 17th.
On Saturday from 10am to 4pm, Market Day Newtown will bring together over 60 crafters, demonstrators and artists coming with a wide variety of interesting crafts, from bee keeping, quilting, rug braiding, spinning, fine arts, photography and woodcarving. Market Day was first held on Saturday, September 16, 1978, reviving an old tradition in Newtown, where long ago, local farmers brought their crops to town to sell and enjoy a day of festivities and contests that culminated with a horse race down State Street. Today, it includes live music, hayrides, and a “Festival of Foods” provided by local Newtown restaurants.

This Sunday, October 3rd, join in the 11th Annual Fact AIDS Walk in New Hope and Lambertville from 8am-12pm. The scenic 10K (6.2 miles) runs from the New Hope/Solebury High School, crossing over the bridge to Lambertville and onto the canal path North to Stockton, crossing over the bridge to Center Bridge and continuing on the canal path South, finishing back at the high school in New Hope.
