Your Guide to Hiking and Biking in Bucks
Whether you're a beginner, dabble in hiking or biking, or are an expert, there are trails for you in your county. Let us lay it out for you based on skill level and popular trails so you can pick which adventure is best for you!
Beginner Friendly
The Beloved Delaware Canal Towpath
Walk on the flat and easy towpath through Bucks, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties to explore the area around you! The towpath is 60 miles in length and is pet friendly. It's the perfect start for a beginner for an easy stroll, run, and bike ride.
Ringing Rocks Ramble
This is an easy .8-mile loop near Upper Black Eddy and takes about 21 minutes to finish. Where does it get its name from? Glad you asked. The seven-acre field is known as rining rocks because of the sounds that the rocks make when struck by a hammer. Be sure to check out this gem on a nice day and bring a hammer!
Lake Towhee Park
Explore this 549-acre park with family and friends on a walk, bike ride, or run! The park also offers a baseball field, boating, fishing, picnicking, and more. Take the afternoon to have a friendly game of ball and have a sunset picnic through the evening after an active day.
For the View
Ralph Stover State Park – High Rocks Trail
If you enjoy hiking for a view, you've found the right place. The high rocks trail connects two parks, Ralph Stover and Tohickon Valley Park. The trail is 2.7 miles and takes about 90 minutes to complete. Take in the view of the Tohickon Creek and look out for whitewater kayakers as they race down the creek.
Silver Lake Nature Center and Park
This park with about 4.5 miles of nature trails features a gem of a lake to take in throughout your time. All trails are easy to navigate and are perfect for beginners. For an unbeatable view of the lake, stick to the trail along it to find an observation deck overlooking the water. Stay here for the day in Bristol Township and take in the view!
Covered Bridge Hunt
Did you know that Bucks has 12 covered bridges spread throughout the county? Yes, we do and you should make an adventure out of it! Here are a few to add to your list.
Two for One
- Loux Covered Bridge
- Cabin Run Covered Bridge
On the east side of Bucks, there are two covered bridges in Pipersville conveniently 2.1 miles from each other! There is the Van Sandt covered bridge and the Loux covered bridge. Knock 2 bridges off your list right away and while you're in the area, stop for a bite to eat or a drink at the Plumsteadville Inn for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
Quakertown
Visit the Sheard's covered bridge located on the ironically-named Covered Bridge Road. Drive to explore it on a Friday or Saturday to also catch the notable and year-round Quakertown Farmer's Market. With over 500 vendors, it will help you make a day out of it!
Hike and a Bridge for View
Tyler's State Park has a covered bridge of its own located within the park! Go for a hike throughout the park, rent boats, or go for a swim, and venture to the large covered bridge. It's a great photo opt spot! Famished after a long day? Go into town for a meal from one of the several delicious restaurants. Check out our local flavor guide for recommendations around Bucks!
